HF pAppLoc extends AppLocale, making it simpler to install and easy to use with Japanese games.

How to use
  1. Right-click a Japanese .exe or shortcut.
  2. Select Run with Japanese locale or Run with Japanese locale as administrator to run it with Japanese locale.

Why is HF pAppLoc easier?
  • HF pAppLoc fixes that you have to run the AppLocale msi from a command prompt launched as administrator (on Vista/7). Just a few clicks and you have AppLocale installed.
  • With HF pAppLoc you can easily run a Japanese game/setup as administrator, which fixes the annoying incompatibility/issue with UAC on Vista/7, i.e. the dreaded "AppLocale was unable to launch the specified application. Please make sure the application specified is valid.". This error would otherwise require you to run AppLocale as administrator in various awkward ways.
  • HF pAppLoc doesn't display the annoying warning that "AppLocale is only a temporary solution" (thanks to piaip!).
  • Installing/uninstalling HF pAppLoc is easier than having to bother with .reg files to get/remove the context menu (right-click) feature for Japanese games.

Requirements
  • HF pAppLoc has been tested on all versions of Windows (including Windows 8 64 bit). The only platform requiring special attention is ancient Windows XP:
  • Windows XP: Asian language support must be installed to successfully run Japanese games (in Control Panel->Regional Settings). Note: Asian language support is a prerequisite to run any Japanese games on Windows XP (it doesn't matter whether you use HF pAppLoc, change regional settings, use AppLocale or NTLEA - you still have to install Asian language support to make it run).

How it works
  1. HF pAppLoc installs AppLoc by piaip (aka. pAppLoc). pAppLoc is AppLocale without the annoying warning that "AppLocale is only a temporary solution" each time you use it.
  2. HF pAppLoc optionally installs an additional AppLocA.exe and configures it to be always run as admin.
  3. HF pAppLoc optionally adds two context menu items, Run with Japanese locale and Run with Japanese locale as administrator .

Known Issues
  • AppLocale works for the majority of games and setups, but unfortunately not for all. Change Windows regional settings to Japanese if you can't get it to work.
  • If you're on XP: You would probably never need to use Run with Japanese locale as administrator, so you can just ignore it.

Does this work on Windows 8?
Yes, the setup has been tested on Windows 8.1 x64.

Please, add the option to not install the context menu options.

Thanks!

I'll consider that, but I'm curious: Why would you not want these?

I never use the context menu either. I dont like too much get the context menu filled of things and I always use the applocale to make a shortcut to the game. Its easy and clean.

Thanks for this ^^

Thank you for sharing your opinion. It gives me some insight into why the right-click context menu items may be unwanted by some.

But how do you run a setup then? You have to run AppLocale as administrator to be able to get it to work with a setup on Vista/7, so how do you do that?

Regarding the items on your context menu: Have you considered checking other app's options (antivirus, archivers etc.), which might allow removal of right-click context menu items? Maybe the two right-click context menu options installed by HF pAppLoc are the only ones that are really useful?

It work perfectly (so far). The ordinary applocale program didn't work very but this works just fine on windows 7 64 bit. Thank you very much

Thank you for your comment. I would never recommend anybody to turn off UAC. Maybe on Vista, but on 7 it works great.

Very nice app. Thank you.

I agree on your stance on UAC. People that tell me to turn it off, I usually put in the same list as people who tell me to turn off my antivirus or firewall. lol.
