When judging a member of the opposite sex purely on their looks, do you prefer someone with a tan, or without one? Almost orange skinned, or snow white?
Personally, I prefer very fair skin.

I prefer a tan, even if she is overweight she looks better with a tan then pasty white. To me white skin looks dead. Also if you use moisturizers after tanning and bathing the impact that tanning has on your skin is minimal. Also recent studies have proven scientist where wrong about the impact tanning has on skin and is in fact necessary for the proper metabolizing of vitamin C and other nutrients. So those who are hiding from the sun are doing more harm then good.
Also not sure where you see orange skin at. A natural tan or even a tan from a salon will not be orange no matter how dark it gets. It will always be brown. If you are seeing orange skin it is because they are using sunless tanning lotions and self bronzers. Those are derived from a chemical in carrots and they will give you a more orange appearance then brown or tan. They even have pills you can take which puts the same chemical in your skin. But still yields more of an orange than tan or brown.

deffinetely without a tan and you don't look dead with white skin, pale skin is different to white skin. For some reason when I see a tanned girl, there skin to me, just looks damaged and dirty sorry girls. However a natural darker complexion doesn't bother me at all.
PS fake tan imo looks like they have been shit body painting.... shudder.
To me its fair or white skin, like they mentioned above, tanned girl tend to look that they have premature wrinkles with damaged and dirty skin, and the color itself is not that attractive.
While on the other hand, natural brown girls are EXTREMELY hot, since their color looks natural and has this charm that I cannot explain.

I like them pale like a ghost. Light diffusing skin are fine too.
But it all depends really; some could look great with tan while some would end up looking like roasted duck.

I'm fine with both though it depends on the person, really. Still, I have to say that the darker skin tones with no tan lines are the ones I like best. Tan lines are OK too but I don't dig them quite as much.

As for me, as long its compliments its all good. However personally tanning to look better usually never works imo.
You should also know, most typical and especially cheap tanning techniques is quite bad for your skin. You age faster with a higher (more wrinkles later in life) with possibilities of skin disorders.
btw... tanning "whitens" your teeth :D:p

I don't usually care about tan. Than having been said... since I tend to find Asian girls more attractive, it's mostly pale for me. No ganguro/yamamba, please! ^_^

Hmm... I don't have a say in this really. To me, it depends on the girl, cause somehow, I'm able to see through skin. I find a bright skinned Japanese girl as very attractive, such as Reon Kadena and Utada Hikaru. I also find dark skin females to be attractive as well, such as Aaliyah, or Beyonce(I don't like her at all, but she's just attractive in visual matters, that's all...).

i hate tans and it's ugly. Looks like ugly leather. White/Light colored people shouldn't ruin there skin like that. Just be who you are. I especially hate it when people deliberately do it.

Same could be said for light and white people. I dislike the way they look. To me they look unhealthy and sickly. A tan shows you spend a lot of time outside and lead and active lifestyle while white pasty people represent a sheltered indoor life here in the US at least. You can have a nice tan without the leather look. That is caused by over tanning. Moderate exposure gives you a healthy glow.
Also hate is such a strong word. Why do we always use it?

I think you misread something in that. By white and light I mean people who prefer to stay out of the sun or tanning beds and have a pale or ghost complexion. Nowhere in my post did I mention blacks as you accuse? You need to learn to read in abstract and not so literal or you are always going to misread what is intended. Also FYI blacks can tan. Here in America you can see about 7 or more different shades and if go on black porn sites you will see them with.....wait for it...... OMG tan lines. So please read what is intended and not inferred.

You clearly called light/white people unhealthy and sickly. While I did not such a think towards other colored people. I clearly said that I rather have light colored people not to have a tan. Because imo it doesn't look good and people should be happy with who they are(meaning your hair, skin, etc). That is totally different that what you are saying.
In your post you are saying clearly that You think quote "White and light" people look unhealthy to you. White people are a race. They are born this way.
"No Tan" means the standard normal color of people. The fact that u even denies that you said something discriminating is what makes me angry(that's why my language). I have had discussion like this before. So I am well aware of people's opinions. Sometimes I can be hard. But it's not without reason.
I just want you to think rationally. That it's not nice to say that about people. You clearly got frustrated by my comment. Maybe you have a tan? if so your comments are way offcharge and discriminatory.
I'd have to agree with Kawaii, what you said was opinionated and racist. But its used all the time on adverts, people saying a pale complexion is unhealthy and ugly and then advertising fake tan. There was a time when light skin was seen as angelic and healthy and thats how I see it.
What you said is like me saying white skin is angelic, black people look battered and bruised. What we are saying is a tan looks unhealthy on white people and they should be proud of their complexion.

There's a reason why most of the world (besides America) sells skin lightening cosmetics, while in America it is no where to be found (something my mother complains about often)...
Tanning is not healthy, studies have shown that exposure to UV rays increases the risk of skin cancer and also makes you age faster... On the flip side though, the lighter your skin, the easier you get sunburns...
I personally like untanned skin... also, chances are that the person will look younger for longer nya ;)

Actually it's been found by new research that people who stay away from sun and keep themselves pale have poor vitamin C intake. The sunlight is necessary for the body to properly metabolize the vitamin c as well as some other minerals. So some sunlight is necessary. Which means a light tan are burn is required or you not getting the proper vitamin C requirements of your body.

mmm... of course you shouldn't entirely shun the sun... Sunlight is needed for the body to produce Vitamin D as well... but it doesn't take so much sun that you get a tan in order for you to get your required D intake... not too sure whether you need more sunlight with C than D though...

Don't mind a tan as long as its not too dark or overdone, and as long as the skin isn't like shoe leather urgh... but prefer not to see tan lines.... but natural is best

A nice tan, but natural. I mean, a nice tan when you see girls in summer is like the way it should be. But being tan in December or January is not so attractive to me. But I don't like the idea of getting a tan on purpose.
For example I work during summer and I normally got tan almost without knowing it, but I don't like the girls that goes during 2 hours to lie on the beach just for getting it.

It's just up to the taste of the beholder. I personalty don't mind all. It just depends on the person who has it. I like a wide range and depend on bikini style tan line or light tanned skin is just fine with me. Also I seem to like fair skin and white skin on some people. Yes if they over do it with the fake tan is bad. If it looks like I accidentally stain you as well as the fence there's something wrong with that picture. Also with the fake tan don't over do it or use too dark of a tone. Unless your trying out the make-up anime look. Where you totally go dark. OH if you are really orange and very hairy that's a big no, no. It looks like a rotten hamburger bum to me. LOL. Instead of a seeded bun you have a hairy bun.
@ Animedoll. TO me I don't see anything wrong with your picture in red. I think it look cutie. It suits you well. With light colored make up like your lip stick. That would turn out to be a great looking photo with a darker toned back ground. Well that's my option at least. The picture would also seem to have a evil look to it.
