I remember I mentioned this before the tracker went down and I'll say it again but this time more formally,
From where should I start, the more I look at it the more frustrated I become, seeing some people leech 2-3Gigs and only given back 5-10mb...I mean hell!! even a dialup can give back more than that (these people never seed by the way)....I think those who do this have no shame what so ever...and don't tell me that your ul is low or caped cause thats not an excuse. lets say for a moment what you're saying is true, if you know your connection can't handle it...don't leech then!!. and lets face it, your just making it hard on everybody else.
And I'm sorry for saying that..this is not meant for you, I know a lot of you that work hard and give back more than they can give, your work is well appreciated. I just want your support on this to make hongfire network a better place.

Cheers

In my opinion, we should ban these "who only know how to dl" people. I think the real limit of the dl/ul ration should be a least 50%.
I ve havve upload a torrent for more than 3 days : there are at least 28 complete transfers, and i am still the only one seeding !!!

Hongfire should get some mods(trusted) to start banning the buggers. And I think some of the Top 10 people are cheating with the ratio althrough I don't know if its the truth.

i know what u guys r talking about as it is the foundation of bit torrent and the way it works, but in reality u can't impose ur ideas and ideals on people even if u ban them, cuz all they will do is go somewhere else to dl their anime. i'm not defending their actions nor do i condone them, but at the least i'm being realistic about the situation and so should u. there's no point in wasting ur breath and barking at a crowd that isn't even listening let alone caring about what u have to say.

There should be some kind of reward for people with high dl/ul ratio, that should make more people continue with their seeding after their download is finished.

maybe we could set a number of a points depending of your uploaded bytes : to dl each torrent, one must have a certain number of points...

This is how the new tracker will work. Once the programer finish coding the user stats there will be a upload/download share ratio number next to your nickname in the forum. So people with bad ratio's request will be ingorned. as soon as they post a request or something you will be able to see how much they upload and downloaded. also there will be a page to display how many torrent each member upload. So that way we will know who is supporting the community the most and we support them back as fast as we can but filling their request and such. :)

I hope soon they can understand the point of using bittorrent is to SEED and SHARE YOUR bandwith when someone else already went up with all the trouble making and uploding torrents.

But i can also understand the pain of people with slow connections. Coz i been using 56k modem for long time. and then went to 50k/12k asal with 3gb limit per month. LOL and finally now i am using 150k/25kb adasl unlimited but paying $160 per month for this connection. Even i am trying to seed whenever i can there is no way my upload ratio can catch up with my download ratio becoz that'ts 150k vs 25kb. So i am trying to upload good rare torrents and provide a better community for anime fans to return my thanks for letting me download all those nice torrents.

Same goes to everyone else if you can't seed all the time or have slow connection. You can still help out by replying forums to help other members share good infos or upload good torrents.

Let me say first you have a nice dl/up ratio no problem with that...its just that some people are not playing nice, I mean with up/dl ratio 1:100 thats not really logic

Thanks Hong for clarifying all that and thansk you for all your effort you put in into making this community a better place to gather :) .

Cheers.

But there is thing i still don't understand : the section "http://bt.hongfire.com/" look completly independant of the main section. Why?
I mean they have their own ratio, must register independantly to upload torrent...

That was our tempery tracker. This one in the forum is the main one and is the one we will be using from now on. So once everything is done i hope everyone start using the new tracker. the new tracker is already ready to use and i need more member to upload and test it.

Dude, get yourself a new comp. Nowadays 400MHz is just so out of date for.... most things done after the year 2000. O__o

Computers get better too fast.

What exactly is being counted in the prominently displayed member uploads and downloads--is it the cumulative volume of data transferred over bittorrent? I've been running a torrent for a while now, but I don't see any numbers by my name. Do I have to upload a new torrent before I'm on the books? That may be a while yet, since I'll first need to get a feel for what the community needs/wants, and because many of my collections are incomplete.

I don't see how you can reliably gather data on users' BT transfers. The BitTorrent network does not have any system of authentication; the only way to identify a host is by IP number. It's a safe bet that a user is tranferring over BT if the IP matches the IP from which he's currently logged into this website, but what if he's not logged in? The majority of users have dynamic IP addresses, so there's no way to know whose UL/DL statistics to increment. Finally, many people have access to multiple computers, so they could leech off one while logging in from another.

I just discovered Hongfire a day ago. I apologize in advance if I'm being dense. I didn't find any answers in the FAQ or with a quick forum search.

There is no way to track ppl who didn't login unless we set the private to members only. But the main point for the numbers under your name are. When you post a request and if other members see you have a good upload rate and they would reply you quicker and upload the request for you. For the number to show up in ur name you just have to download or upload torrents and close the client. The stats only update when you close the client. There are some issue about the stats are not recording correctly which i had already answered in other posts. If you do a search in the support forum you would find it. We currently still working on it.
