Suggesting more titles

right now.. we only have:
Junior Member
Member
Donor
VIP
Staff and Mods

i think we should have more titles cuz the step from a junior to a member is fast..
but from a member to a VIP is super hard..
if there are more titles like elite or senior members or some other titles in a more narrow gap
then we would have better grasp of how the members are doing..

what do u guys think?

Personally, I think maybe Junior membership status should only be changed to Member based on senority. Like say... maybe one month. :p
In all fairness, some junior members rarely post and have been around for several months and have seeded/uploaded quite a bit.

Take rank 11, 12, 13, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 in uploads. They're all Junior members but have made significant contributions. :p

And of course, Senior membership could be set to maybe six months to a year or something like that. :p

Perhaps giving people with high post/day ratio automatic Active Member status, or maybe Rotting corpse status if they rarely visit the site. :D

I don't think you'd really want anymore titles than that, it may be too confusing for people. And in all fairness, HongFire's got more important stuff to deal with, like site load, or at least for now (and maybe his job... ... ... nah). :D
Might be a while before he can really get some rest and start tinkering with small stuff. :p :D

Just go with custom user title changes, so we don't have to worry about any of this.

AFAIK, the default titles for vBulletin are:
- Junior Member (post count < 30)
- Member (30 <= post count < 100)
- Senior Member (post count >= 100)

I once became Senior Member when my post count reached 100. Then HongFire disabled that title, so I was back to Member again.

So yes, there used to be Senior Members but not any more.

HereAtThere bring up a good sugguestion. I agree. I don't think that people should become senior members based on post count. There are a lot of people who just post spams to increase count. I see it every day, they post the same spams over and over again. Perhaps, there should be two or three different criterias that need to be met. Mabey a minium number of months, have a couple of reputation points, referrals, Upload status, etc. If somebody doesn't upload or download, they should be judged on other critera. And if somebody doesn't post they should be considered if they upload a lot or do other good deeds.

Maybe there should be two ranks, one for your post and the other for your share ratio.

Example:
Kerii has 720 post, so it should be a LVL 7 member. While I have only 180 post, so I'm a LVL 1 member.

Share ratio:
Kerii has 2.24 of ratio. So it could be a LVL 2 sharer, while me with a ratio of 0.98, is a LVL 0 sharer. (desperately trying to get 1:1 ratio!)

I'm refering to people who just 'nice picture' over and over and over and over and over.... and other stuff like that. Desmonthes and Kerii acually use their brains and make people laugh, well at least me anyway :D
