Is this anime any good? Is it worth watching?? well...with all the anime out there that is far more enjoyable...its really hard to say.
I don't want to mention how they really messed up the tv show with that crappy censoring...yes, this series is infamous for the excessive mist they put on during the bath scenes(just for one reason..to boost up the sales of uncensored DVD releases), but despite all of that, Girls Bravo is better than DearS anytime IMO :D

Here's some highlights on this censorship issue:
Ryuichi Makino, the character designer of GIRLS Bravo, very severely criticized Fuji TV on the message board at his website (http://www.geocities.jp/makiryu01/index4.html).

"The anime regulation & censoring of Fuji TV has become so much heavier than I expected. Even sexy poses of characters were censored, to say nothing for their tits. Almost all nude scenes on the TV version were whitened with steam by force. Everything erotic was compeled to be invisible. All my efforts were hidden by thick steam. That's a great shock to me. Fuji TV's censorship seems a cruel joke for me. It's actually equivalent to saying "Don't make anime." What do you think about it?" mentioned Makino.

Ei Aoki, the director of GB, also made cutting sarcasm to Fuji TV at his website (http://www.est.hi-ho.ne.jp/clockworks/) last month (that remark was already deleted). He drops this word on his site,
(I've been in a state of depression for a week. But I must go about my business, like it or lump it.

This matter has become the subject of heated debates in anime fans & professional community on the internet, and so I'd like to disclose current Fuji TV's standards of censorship for your information.

- Ban on nudity: To say nothing of masking of private parts, even it's banned from showing a naked character's body only partially.
- Ban on showing underwear:
- Ban on painting blood red: Change its color.

There are many other prohibited matters in the Fuji TV's rules. We can't use those banned expression for producing anime. Probably I would face an uphill battle against Fuji TV. I'm sorry that I don't meet fans' expectation.

The censorship by Fuji TV became considerable controversial issue of this month in Japanese anime fandom immediately after the episode one of GB was aired. In process of various arguments, lots of remarkable facts were revealed by informed persons.

For example, why does Fuji TV censor Samurai Champloo far more loosely than GB? The reason why they do so is that they consider Samurai Champloo not so much anime as "Jidai-geki" (a historical drama featuring mostly samurai). Commonly Jidai-geki is targeted at adult viewers only. On the contrary, they consider GIRLS Bravo pure anime. Even if GB is otaku-oriented show, its viewers should consist of mostly otaku and a few children. According to the Fuji TV's theory, there's a very important difference between adult only programs and programs including a few viewers of children. They say Jidai-geki should be censored more loosely and "pure anime" should be censored more strictly.)

Mario Kaneda, the author of the original manga, mentioned at her website (http://www.parfait.ne.jp/~mario/nikkahp.htm) as this, "It's painful for me to think of anime staff at this difficult time, of course, thick steam thing. They put all their energy into anime, but in the result thick steam hid all stuff. I want to see tits in the show!"

Absolutely hated it. It was very difficul to sit even through the first episode. Cringed in pain the whole time. Couldn't watch the second for more than a few minutes. Dropped after that and felt like a mountain fell from my shoulders.
Usually I like this romance-comedy genre but this time they went way over the top IMO.
3 reasons why I hate it:
1.)Mist censoring. Doesn't get worse then that. Why do they even bother showing such scenes then? To show 4/5 of the screen in white? The same scenes would be much better off with clothes on but without censoring.
If that is for DVD sales then they are the lowest. Not that I would want to buy this crap anyway.
2.)Excessive violence. Although I don't find the prospect of beating funny I can usually stomach a joke or 2 when poor guy gets hit for stupid (or without) reason, but this time they went over the board IMO. Slapping the guy around with especially ephasized force and violence just totally turned me off. I can't laugh when i see guy gets kicked in the nose with a jump-knee attack. Especially with the blood pouring.
3.)Main character is sissy and ninny. Also this time over the top. Afraid of women, can't stand for himself, gets pushed around... After watching hundreds of such "heroes" I slowly grew to hate them. Can't stand it anymore. And this anime has one of the sissiest main characters I have ever seen.

And of course every worst harem-anime cliche seems to be present here as well. I mean, I have already seen Love Hina which founded harem-anime type, and enjoyed it pretty well. Girls Brave is a descendant. And should be better theoretically. But to me it is just worse in every single way. Taking what little of the plot there could be away and adding as much stupid violence and cliche fillers as possible made it absolutely unwatchable.

My 2 cents.

It's not very good but still worth watching IMO. If you haven't read manga, I suggest you should. Manga is a lot funnier than anime but anime has a little bit more romance.

I think so too. :D

@Astral100

yes, I agree with you on most of those points...

Slapping the guy around with especially ephasized force and violence
do you think this series is targeted to female :p audience instead of males :D

Doubt it, but who knows. Interesting to hear what females think about the series. Maybe they will like it

As said in the "THEM anime reviews": "Imagine this anime the way it had been if the main character was a girl, and was being abused the same way by a bunch of guys" :D

The mist censore is so lame kinda ruined the anime itself. if they take off the censore this anime is ok. better than dears i think. but still too much this type of anime out there already so not too attactive.

boost the dvd scale? you mean in the dvd version there will be no censore? is this sure info?

Girls Bravo.. presonally, there's not much story development, and the jokes repeat itself... the first couple of eps were okay, but I'm pretty irritated by watching the later ones... I'll finish watching this series though... >.<

i didn't find it that interesting of funny. love hina is better in terms of a show where the guy is surrounded by girls (harem). plus there seems to be a lot of shows coming out with this same story line, a guy who's a pussy and he's surrounded by a lot of good-looking women. the thing that pissed me off was that the censoring was way too much. i mean it totally negated the purpose of shows like these, where they are targeted against horny guys. although i understand the reason for the censoring, which isn't necessarily because of the dvd sales thing, but because the nipples in the show are a bit too big even for lenient japanese t.v. regulations.

The only reason it's censored is because of Fuji TV's new censor poilcys, which prevents any fanservice from being shown, and it also forces the blood to be changed colour which Champloo is able to get past as it's supossed to be a historical anime...

I always thought its a Law in Japan to censor those parts .... Thats why all the 'legal' JP H-things are censored ....

But panty shots and breasts aren't 'those parts'.

i agree, breasts, asses, or underwear were always allowed

despite the character is generic, I found them to be likable, at least to average level. but maybe that's just natural adaptability with such kind of stories :P

OMG they are so lame. What stuido make this anime? i will make sure i don't buy any dvd from them.AIC Spirits, the studio that made Tenchi ?

@Astral100
do you think this series is targeted to female :p audience instead of males :Dcould it be cultural thing ? the picturing of stronger female than male in lot of non-h anime seems like a common thing

I knew it, there had to be something. This anime, if it had not been cencored, more people would have liked it, but if there were no need for cencoring then also more people would have liked it. I don't hate this anime or anything, it' pretty whatchable, but every time I see this anime I think: been there, seen that. I mean, "OMG, she is an alien, they almost all are, and they all like him....", sigh. In short, not total crap, but definately not very good.

Does it censoring bother you that much?

The blood color is a little different. I don't mind that.
The fog... you know what's behind it, right? Use your imagination! ^^

i just don't watch uncensored or uncut anime or live action.
even if it was detective conan, and was uncut like how it is in the states, i wouldn't watch it just because its uncut not because i hate the show. its my form of opposing censorship, and edits that deter artist's visions. if it was just because i wanted to c some oversized nipples, i would have downloaded some porn instead lol.

its not just that by the way. its also because the nipples ar relatively huge compared to nipples from other shows. japanese people are sensitive to these types of things. its like this weird law they have that an anime can't have a flashing image of a nude person, cuz then it makes it surreal, but if its an ongoing image its fine. lol weird.

well, i hated it as well here's why:
1.Main character gets beat up by girls, if Kirie would stop attacking him i might like her but she's too ****haeded to remember their supposed to be "friends"

2.mist censoring pisses me off

3.Yukinari didn't stay in Seiren

Censoring should be exclusive to anonymous people on the news.

Well, good news. They didn't have any censoring in Girls Bravo: Second season.

There series had a couple of great/funny moments, but thats about it. Not a lot of things make sense and next nothing is accomplished at the end of the series. Can't say that I hate the series though, episode 6(i think it was) in season 2 makes up for just about everything when you see Fukuyama turned pale white and shift into three different poses frame by frame. Although the one thing that bothered me about the series was that bastard Fukuyama wins/gets away with too much crap too often. In terms of everything that happens, it's like Yukinari barely breaks even sometimes and while that guy walks away a little of ahead everytime. Am I the only one that thinks that?

The series was amusing enough to keep me watching for the first season, but not enough for me to watch the second season too

I was lucky enough (strange but true) to only get girls bravo series 1 recently so I cut out all that censoring rubbish and from never seeing love hina this was new and good for me. I've seen other harem series' but this one still held me and had funny parts in it for me. I'm about to get series 2 and thankfully have no worries as it's not censored so here I go!!

I've just wondered - when I get around to watching love hina at some time am I not going to laugh at the jokes because I've seen them all in later animes? This could be disastorous.........

the most surprising thing i found out about this anime series is that unlike what it looks like it was not based off a dating sim or h-game at all, it was all orginal. can u belive that??
