Hey everyone, thought I'd help out a little and post what I know about a free shard of Lineage II (the new one :D ) , and even the Chaotic Chronicles is up on this. It is a free (& legal, for those that care) server, as far as I can tell.

1)install game
a) Download the full c1 client from www.lineage2.com and update the game with full check
b) or install the game from the cd's and fully check the game

2) run the one of the files or both below and it should work

if you have a fully updated chronicle 1 client this might work:

FAIR WARNING The website to sign up is down quite a bit, as the server is going through some rough times, but *ideally* the server should be stable in a week or so. This isn't my server, so that's not a promise or a fact, just a statement.

Now I'll admit the webiste is down as of posting this (but the server is up), but I figure the 2 gig download will keep you busy for at least a few hours, and then hopefully the server will be up by then. I'm on as sputnikc as a human mage, named Erica. Maybe a human guild could start up?

When you register on this page, use IE! Firefox won't work!

Here are some enticing pictures of the Lineage 2 game to promote you all coming to play. The first two were done by me three minutes before posting this thread, to prove that the server worked, the next two are by someone who is very jaded about any fun Lineage 2 might be, and the last one is a picture of what your experience might be kinda like. The pics are not mine, and those of you who are well versed on other forums will notice that, yes, some of the notes/quotes are taken from there. I'm not trying to claim this as my incredible contribution to the world, I'm just sharing the information (because the game is kinda fun, especially with the increased xp gain...takes the pain out of the grind)*

Well, let's have a party, shall we? Hopefully enough people will go human that we can have a little fun. (if you're playing to look at breasts and little clothes, then you want to play female dark elf. But really, that's not cool. :( ). The server is populated, with anywhere from 500-1200 people on at any given time, so it's going to be fun without being ridiculous.

Well, the good news is that the server just went through a serious upgrade, and is a lot more stable now. Hopefully orka (since no one else is interested :( ) will have fun on it with me.

Edit #2: If anyone has the file, could you post it or FTP it or something? ; ; The update link is not working anymore c.c; I am going to keep trying to get it ^_^; But so far, no luck, it says the pw/user is not good :p

It might be that there are to many people on, but it says the server closes the connection for server control :p Whatever that meens. . .

I'm having the same problem as GTR. If you could send the files my way, I have a server I could place them on that should be fairly stable so that no one else has to go through the same trouble. Should also be firefox friendly >.<

Updated first post with exciting information. Thanks for the help, sericeus.

Alright, a few more things. Both patches were needed for me to get this thing working, and the server status can be found in the left column on the registration page, though that does admittedly go down relatively often. Methinks the website is run off of a pretty heavily-used home pc, but when it's up, it should work.

Also, as GT Ranma pointed out, this place doesn't have english as it's first language. The server is a chinese code, though 98% of the users are English, so server warnings and errors will be in hilarious engrish.

Man I wish I had all the cvs files from their server...I'm tryin to meddle w/ the lin2 server, but lol it isn't that great...I'm not sure about what build of the server hsclan is using, but I know a few people that do play there...Anyone here run their own servers care to hook me up w/ a working data pack that has working skills/quests? =D

Its ok :) I'll download and start playing once L2 is finished. I did enjoy the Open Beta very much after all.

Shall we go ahead and have all the Hongfire members play on this server then? And are they going to implement Chronicle 2? (I see C3 is coming soon officially)

Ok, so let me get this straight, Chronicle 2 is currently out, most of the servers are still using Chronicle 1, and the official site doesn't support Chronicle 1 anymore. Time for the slow and painful download of Chronicle 1.

As I understood it, this server was in the process of working Chronicles 2 into the emulator, and it was a 'work in progress', but I may be wrong...

edit: Nevermind I am able to join HSC clan server! What you have to do is have the l2 isntall into the hsc directory..that way when it patches it skips the ones that you already have.

note: You will have to download the c2 textures as well, and thats 281 megs alone..

these free servers are never stable...watch when you have like decent armor and magic the server crashes and never comes back....its only worth it if you pay for it.

No, you need c1, you can go to their site, l2.hsclan.com (you have to click the ad, then click the bottom, click ad again, then finally click bottom to enter the site) and you can download the c1 client via bittorrent

- amd athlon 1700++
- 256 mb ram ( it says there that i should need more than 256 to play )
- and a gforce 2 mx

ive been playing on it for a while i have a lvl 40 spellsinger ^_^

You will have to click the ad, then click the enter button, then click ad again, then click enter to get into the site.

If you can click fast..I just try to quickly click the ad and then enter twice, before I go into the advertisement's site.

I played on Hell Spawn once (the one next to Katsu i believe). It's quite okay , nice GM , bunch of pkers, fair rates ( all 5x ). But it doesn't have C2 thou +_+
Currently I'm playing on a "no name" server somewhere in Greece. It lags like hell, but I have no choice If I want to play with my friend in Vietnam ( look where I'm living now U_U )

I'm playing Lineage II C1 on a private server as well. My character's a swordsinging elf. Unfortunately, due to the small size and power of the server I cannot reveal it's name to a wide public YET. But once it gets an upgrade, Hongfire will play Lineage II on a new server.... hehe.

Btw, the video preview of C3 on the official site totally ROXX!!!!!!

I Sold my official acount a while ago....70 TH..=(...it's 75 now from what I've heard...I played on l2world for a lil while and hit got up to 75 in less than 2 weeks....10x xp....pretty boring...official is more fun imo...

it depends on the private server's patch and the version of lineage required to run on the private server. Make sure you follow the instruction given on the website. They have to have instructions (unlike world of warcraft private servers).

Lineage 2 is a great game but it becomes boring the more u play, at least in "official server conditions"...

I've played on the official US servers (Lionna for those who know :p) and it's really nice at the begining :
u get ur character stronger, u create a clan, u can do clan wars and sieges for castle...all nice

But when u get to lvl55 or more, it takes like a full week, 8 hours a day to gain 50% of ur lvl, and it gets even more difficult after that...that's what i've quit the game. If u play less (no time or just because u have a real life) u get really behind ur teammates or the other clans and as u get weaker, it becomes a pain :s

Too bad because it's a beautiful game, but it's really for hardcore gamers ;)
On the offical server if you played 8 hours a day, and 7 days a week, you'll be at least level 70 by now. It's around 3-5% an hour after the 60's. So that's at most 30 hours a level.

L2 isn't about the grind though, it's about the interaction with other players. I would of quit the offical servers a long time ago if it weren't for the people I play with.

If you have your own server......you'd be the server admin. So you could spawn any mobs or item you want.

A note thats worth mentioning, it be ugprading (should be already did once you're reading this) to the C3 offcial files. Word has it the files got leaked. Which will be a pain to the L2j community (L2j is the legal server files since it was started from scratch. unlike official files). Which also means quite a number of other servers would be getting the C3 official files.

Tho L2x has a lot of players. The higher player count is more annoying than anything, especially on the 35x server where you can lvl to 75 in a week. And yes, L2 gets old really fast once you're a high level. A great game, but lacks holding appeal.

actully ... playing on a private server wheather l2j or not .. is violating the NC's client accessing rules .....

it's stated in the very last of pages of the booklet :) then again what's stopping us from playing anyways hehe

aw well .. L2 a great game, lots of eye candy ^_^ but the grind is a bit fustrating ... esp if you get pked xD

What is wrong with the servers i tryd 2 servers one is having log in problems,and the other one the server is down.And that were the 2 best servers (isogames/L2eXtreme).
So if any one no a server as good as does 2 that is up can any one give i link.

I played at l2extreme =] cool server.. it has 35x and 11x if i'm not mistaken.. but all my characters in kastian disappeared .. i don't know why.. so I stopped playing after that.. now I can't wait to play it again...=] but only after my exams =[

i totally agree because this game needs a lot of time, for a good lvl, every ppl have real life, lineage its only a game no more

Not a problem for L2X's 35x servers :P but people complain that those 35x servers are mainly for PVP and is not rich for RPG
