Clearly something is wrong with that person, probably a mental illness... as a gamer i don't really worry about that, cause it's one of those things that shouldn't be blamed on a game.... Besides, I would think there would be a lot more random shootings then that, since this game is distributed and played by millions all over the world...

I heard bout that news. The media have a tendency to blame games. I remember Today Tonight did like a whole special on how games can influence kids and they always had this headshot scene from quake 2..haha and it's soo funni that they onli mention CS> headshots r common in every fps. LOLz...
I'm annoyed about this whole media 'blame violent games' thing. Just not justified cos there are soo many other influential things, like real life war and violence.
Oldies can't handle us new gen gamers so they blame games. ^_~ If they had games like CS bac in those days i'm sure they wouldn't say such things.

well they played pacman and space invaders, but they didn't go around eating magic pills and ghost or shooting things in the air.

but yeh i just watched this show
some old guy went though some mountain range and talked to heaps of arab communities
there was this one settlement where it was mainly soported by gun manufacture and u could get an ak-47 for about $20 lol im sure that will become relevant later on in my message :F
like what else will media place some random tihngs like a guy walking into osmeone house and shooiting him in the head
its like hay wtf :/
its not like it happens everyday...
what else could they blame it on?

People just don't run into some guys house and blow his brains out because they played a game of de_dust. There is obviously way more involved to that story than 2 idiot kids randomly deciding to shoot up some old guy.
Either they had some previous hate towards the guy or they were doing coke, there's always a reason behind something, especialy murder.

Well some people do actually do stuff because of games. It's called psychosis problem. different psyche react to different stimuli. But it's usually isolated cases.
Also there are various number of factors involved too.
Also TV shows are also known to be more effective especially when one is subjected to it in REM sleep =p
The media only tends to focus on the bad when it comes to video games. Did anybody hear praise from the mass media when Final Fantasy VII proved that video games had potential to be a solid medium for quality storytelling? No. Did we hear "Down with video games" being chanted by society's elders when the Columbine shootings took place? Yes. Let's face it: Young people today defend rap music by saying that it is, to them, what rock music was to our parents in the sixties and seventies. WRONG. Rap is crap. Video games are OUR Rock 'n Roll, and just like Rock music, it'll eventually become accepted. Just like how Rock is mainstream now that our parents run the world, when we run the world, video games will be THE form of entertainment, and the media will have to find something else to blame things on.

anyone that blames a game on any of their actions is mentally unstable and needs to be hospitalized (or put down). Anyone who actually believes this person is also mentally ill and looking for a scapegoat for bad parenting, and laziness.
The media loves this stuff, and they do everything they can to get more ratings, but it doesn't have anything to do with what i like to call "reality".
games and guns don't kill people. People, bad upbringing, drugs, and fat men in speedos kill people.
ps: crys is right too ;)

yead, i agree, a game doesn't affect my action in anyway. i play CS for hours and made like 20 headshot, but i can only killed like 5 people with headshot in real life. let me tell you, the skills deosn't carry over.
