I was thinking about this after scratching a little in the ethnicity thread, and, with so many people moving to another country every certain time, or living in a different country from you were you borned, I had to ask this...
mainly because here, I always had problems with all people about my name, they say it
Sammy

Install files for East Asian languages

Ethan Harold Einhorn
Ethan - Hebrew, Rock, Sturdy, Steadfast. Also Stubborn, Unmoving, Jackass. Watch John Wayne's The Searchers. Yes, I'm named after a John Wayne character.
Harold - Old-English, Leader of Armies. The feck? After my maternal grandfather. Well, he was in the military...
Einhorn - German, literally One Horned. Sometimes interpreted as Unicorn.
As for Nicknames, my family calls me "Bud", again after my mother's father.
On the net I'm usually refred to as Droe (Manred), Dernam Eord, Droethan, Omega-Poot, and Purse Monster. Droe is a corruption of "Drow", the term used to describe dark elves in the D&D universe. Originally exposed to me by the Eye of the Beholder games. Manred is simply Man (male, der) and Red (a vague reference to Red Mages, generally my favored class). Dernam Eord is Droe Manred, in reverse. Anyone from way back on AGNP should recognize both names. Droethan is self explanitory in origin, but the original quoter of the name was Simon Locke. Omega-Poot is a combination of the Greek letter Omega, "last", and Poot, an old AGNP meme. Purse Monster originated from the Cracker Barrel dishroom after I told a rather disturbing joke involving a purse; the original quoter of that particular nickname was Joe Motyka AKA Old Joe.
As for other nicknames whose origins I will not begin to explain are Fireball, Titanium, Titanium Ball of Fire, Scrappy, Eth (you may under no circumstances call me that...), and ETHANDUDER, CHAMPION OF ILLINOIS WHO HAS DEFEATED YOU ALL. ETHANDUDER HAS BUMPED YOU UP THE LIST. THANK YOU.

Ok..my first name is Diyah..
Some of my friends guessed the meaning of my name (which is good meaning ;)) ..but when I asked my father the real meaning of my name (well he the one who gave the name), he didn't know either .....he just took it from some kid magazine ... :(
and people sometimes make fun of my name ... or even write mistakenly,
since in my country the name 'diah' or 'dyah' are preferable or more well-known than my name (they all have same pronunciation as my name)..so they said i'm too greedy taking both 'i' and 'y' in the same time :(

Though my parents are of Europeon background they moved to the west and got immersed in the hippy culture " Way back in the sixties"and unfortunately when i was born years later they christained me with the name "River". It was hell growning up. I can only recall one more person that had that name "I think it was an actor, not sure, I dislike Hollywood and all the tripe that is pumped out of that town."
I don't feel sooo bad.... they could've called me Moonunit or Dweesel.

I actually think River is quite a pretty name, killtrix ^.^; Quite original: with the exception of the aforementioned River Phoenix, I don't think I've ran into anyone with it before... Though I can imagine going through high school with a name like that can't have been pleasant. =/
Anyway, I'm Eleanor, and I don't really like my name... Aside from sounding overly posh, it's got a silly amount of characters, and everyone always spells it wrong, so I normally stick with 'Ellie'.

I wonder if in other places kids are named after the combination of two names. [eg. part of the father's name and part of the mother's name] coz in my country its so common and the kids have to bear with their names.
My best friend, her name sounds good but its difficult to say at first. Her father's name is Rizalino and her mother's name is Estrella. Her father named her Riztrell. When she meets new people, she gives her nickname "Trelly" instead of her real name coz people tend to hard a hard time pronouncing her name [instead of Riztrell, they say it as RiTZell and gets on her]. My bestfriend has a love hate relationship with her name: she likes it coz it's uncommon but she hates it coz its hard to pronounce.

Name's Scott. Yup, that's it. Nicknames are as follows: BuzzSaw, Scooter, Scooter Barney (wtf?), and Gobble Gobble Scott Bot. All nicknames have since retired since middle school I think...
My mom being chinese and all gave a nickname and called me 'Sha Shong' (sp?) which is suppoed to mean Panda in Mandarin.

my dad's chinese and my mom is half dutch half malaysian. So yeah im the outcome of all those adds up :D
Religion = Islam
Name = Aizuddin Khamaruzaman @ Abdul Rahman
How to translate it into english = I dunno :D
That means... your mother is a local pr of Malaysia because in most cases, whoever marries an Islam Malay (man or woman), the other side who is non-Malay will convert to Islam according to Malaysian law.
Btw, this is seriously no offense but can't help but wondering (if you, Murs read this part), as an Islam guy, isn't watching porn/hentai against your religion?

Ahh okay now that clears it up. I was wondering why Maria signed her name "Roudou" on her return post in the "Show your support for Maria Renard" thread (of course I knew her real life name isn't Maria Renard :p). Roudoudou is quite a unique name. I like unique names, it makes it interesting :). My real life name is Albert D. (I won't give away my last name, just the last initial ;)). It's not a very common name around my parts but it's very ordinary. So, since my initials are A.D., I'll sometimes go under the pseudonym Anno Domini which I think sounds like it would be a unique bada$$ name. But as some may know Anno Domini (A.D.) is latin for "Year of the Lord" and is attached to dates on the Christian calendar for any year after the birth of Christ. For example, this year would be 2005 A.D., or 2005 C.E. (Common Era) for the politically correct :p.

to be honest, I hate my name, both of them. (family and first name)
They are both, ahhhmm, pretty strange.
I don't like them, so I won't give them.
if you want to call me something else then ri-chan, just call me Reika.
my family name is even conciderd "weird" down here in frog-land,
and most people can't pronounce nor spell it right. geh it's hopeless :D
I'm a full-blood dutch girl,
but I can speak german as well,
my english is ok,
and I can speak a few words french,
(actualy, i think I can speak more japanese then french,
wich is odd, cause I have had french classes since 4 years know, it just won't get into my head O.o )
