I seriously need to clean out my bookmarks, I have over 300. xD

The reason why is that if I find a good site, I'm afraid I will forget the address and then I won't remember how to get back to it. :O But actually, I only visit a handful of those sites on a regular basis...I could probably delete two-thirds of them and wouldn't even notice the difference. :p

I also separate my bookmarks into categories, at least the ones I actually expect to visit more than once. ^^

I have links to Final Fantasy websites, art sites, forums, free-game sites, craiglist, shoutcast (internet radio), image hosting,. Totals to 46. 300 is a lot to clean. :P

I (ab)use bookmarks exactly as you described, stukasa - I often don't want to "lose" a link, then I bookmark it.
I haven't counted, but I've shitloads of bookmarks too, the worst part being that I've several 'packs' of bookmarks, imported from different machines and different browers (Firefox + Opera). I'm currently mixing them all, and it's terrible - there are even duplicates :D

some what between 150 to 180, most of it are crap, I have to clean it but I'm too lazy to do so.
the useful ones maybe from 20 to 30 site

I also separate my bookmarks into categories, at least the ones I actually expect to visit more than once.same here.

Hm....Just opened my favourites folder and checked...I have 1051 files in there. >D<

Assuming 25% are deadlinks/multiple links to different section of a site, that gives 788 active bookmarks in browser. *whistles*

To rationalise this, I have been carrying this bookmark set since the days of my Win95 PC, and then to my Win98 PC, and now to my WinXP PC.

i usually don't bookmark. i use the history of the addressbar :p
(typing the first few chars and then selecting from the dropdown)

bookmarks for those that i don't visit often (cause they may not be in the history or i tend to forget the name ^^)

I've just checked : I've 2713 bookmarks. Since there are duplicates and multiple links, I think I've less than 1000.
No doubts, I'm a bookmarking maniac.

i share the computer w/ my sister, and she surfs web quite recklessly => reinstall windows each 1 or 2 months T__T. I tried to backup personal data, but spend 2 days to reinstall everything isnt an interesting task, and the last time doing so I forgot to backup my bookmark T___T.
Anyway, rightnow i got ~50 site bookmarked, and visit ~10 often. THe most frequently visted ones stay on my bookmarktoolbar: online malware scan, wikipedia, dota allstar, japanese grammar learning etc.

Anecdote of the day :
My bookmarks count nearly decrease to 0 yesterday : I almost lose all of them in Opera (it's not the first time Opera toys with my bookmarks btw...)
Hopefully I was able to find the bookmarks files I had before I merged them in one; it's a big loss of sorting time...but far better than losing them all.
This isn't going to cure my paranoia against computers...

edit : for those who're sorting their bookmarks, this software (http://www.aignes.com/deadlink.htm) (AM-DeadLink) can come handy - it can be used to detect duplicates and check for dead links.

those 4 include a blog i had to make for a highschool class (to display photshop work), 2 sites w/ remixes (though one is currently down for updating), and a flash animation site some of you may know of, "homstarrunner . com" I visit all of these sites almost daily, usually checking them before I go to bed. then i go to bed for sleeping... or reading... :D

I have exactly 10. Bookmarks of references for rulings, calculations, and languages (coding included). I don't visit that many sites so it's easy to remember - not that big of an internet surfer oddly.

I keep all the bookmarks I've acquired over the years, or at least attempt to. I'll count them when I have a lot of time on my hands. I basically bookmark nearly everything but rarely ever use them heh.

450 or so. And maybe 100 or more that I lost by not importing from IE. I can remember where a good amount of them are too so I dont ever try to sort or organize them. This is the same with my programs in the start menu.
Most visited sites are bookmarked on the top bar right under the address bar.

I've got 895 that I've accumulated over the years, sorted by categories and subcategories in folders.

Been slacking off recently and have maybe 200+ unaccounted bookmarks in the main directory though.

I really only use maybe 10+ of them for day to day stuff. :p

I personnaly have a lot of bookmarks and don't visit them often.
I only visit daily 5 or 6 sites, the rest rather are a collection of links...

It's kind of messy, but I order them in subdirectories, just as I do with my anime pics, games, etc...in conclusion I don't think so much bookmarks are useful, since I think I spend more time ordering them (I don't order them when I bookmark...I just bookmark at the root directory:o ), than actually visit them.

What about you?
It's the same for me, although when you are bored to hell you can find them useful to spend some time. When I'm really bored I also check some of them to clean up my bookmarks, but I still got hundreds of them...

well, i've got 1365 bookmarks in firefox, and 12 in IExplorer (i think the numbers tell which browser i like :P ). the most of my bookmarks (1257) are in the "not used" folder :D nowadays i only look about 8 or 9 of the rest.

If we are talking about unique domains, then I have about 30 bookmarks.

If we are talking about any unique URL, then I have about 3,000+ bookmarks because I index a lot on things on the Internet for reference.

around 430 bookmarks, but use only about 20 bookmarks which i put mostly in the links toolbar. I use subdirectory to categorize them so it's not to confusing.

Every post? That's unreal. You've got at least 4 times my post count and I only keep track of my most recent ones. Then again, I post in a few different forums and BBs and lurk a few more.

Lately, I've been stacking up on bookmarks. I've got my most used ones in the bookmarks toolbar and a few others in categorized folders. The less important or temporary ones are just left as they are and are just renamed with a short description as to why I bookmarked them.
I have 69 bookmarks now. I purged the list last week.

folders have:
5, 52, 3, 109, 10, 7, 1, 6, 6, 10, 9, 3, 29, 4, 5, 5

total: 758

Guess what the 109 folder contains :grin: . There are some ingrained in my memory that I didn't bookmark. If only I still had my AOL bookmarks, I had well over 300 hentai sites bookmarked :D

I usually but those web pages on my bookmark when there is something interesting to me or the content is just interesting or it is just something what i like.
But sometimes i pop up in sites which has so long url that i cannot remember so i put those in my bookmark...and that i do usually with firefox. I use Opera like my number one choice and firefox like second choice and then if something wont work. And all pornographical sites i put in firefox bookmark...dont know why, but i have just used to do that...and now i have lots of sites on firefox.

But some sites i do remember just like that, so i dont have to bookmark them...but still, if it is good site, i usually bookmark it ^^

If you look at operas bookmark, i think there is something like 100 links and in firefox bookmark is like 50-100 more than opera :D

Well, me.
I sometimes do so much surffing on net, and sometimes i find some cool or nice website which i wanna check later. And because i have interest for so many things at the same time, i have more than few tabs active on my browser, so thats why i bookmark them. And if i wanna clean my bookmarks, i have to do so much work so i dont clean them much. But nowdays i do have less than 100 links on my bookmark ^^

Generally, i only divide my bookmark to 4 category. MAngascan, torrent, HT, and other (the Other didn't get it's own folder, so it kinda messy)

Probably something between 20 and 50. But in case you are curious about how many of them I actually use, I hardly ever use them to be honest. I just use the bookmark function to not forget some particular site that I know I won't be seeing it again but I know it might have something interesting to look for in the future. I know I will have to remove/better sort out many of those bookmarks of mine someday, though. :p
