The Guild Wars World Preview Event takes place October 29 through 31, 2004.
In preparation for this free worldwide event, you are invited to download the Guild War Game Client on the link below. This 90 KB client will allow you to start preloading game assets in preparation for the event.
Installation Instructions:
Download the client (See Below)
Unzip installation file from Zip Archive
Run the GWSetup.exe file to and set drive and path for Guild Wars installation (Default location: "C:\Program Files\Guild Wars")
Upon a completed installation Guild Wars will automatically update itself and launch the login screen
Account Creation: Simply launch the game during the Event, Oct 29-31. You will be prompted to provide an email address and to create a password. (The email address will only be used only for password retrieval.) With your login complete, the game will start. Enjoy Guild Wars!

You may update your Guild Wars files by initializing this client on an occasional basis, at which time game assets will be streamed to your computer.

i wouldnt call it an mmorpg, its more like diablo but instead of bnet chat rooms you have ingame meeting areas to find partys
its kinda fun, but to me feels a little generic aswell, and the item/loot system sucks and imo thats one of hte most important parts of online rpgs

well... It kinda suck but if u haf good team mates, they would most likely give u what u wan.. So far i haf no problems with it.. But it's not the final product YET.. We got to wait and see :)

And wth... patching is teriffically slow... 5kb/s with 1400++ files... I'm on a roll...

The server is encountering problems, u should get used to it.. lol.. Once u get in the game, it should be better

i love this game, especially once you have a really good party where everyone know wtf they are doing. its not an mmorpg, as the devs pointed out.
the level grind(compared to lineage 2) is particularly better since it all depends on SKILL not how many hours you put into the game.
oh and last thing, ITS FREE! no monthly fee! how cool i that?!

Seems the next WBE has been delayed to the 18th of February. The dev's are apparently in the process of integrating a new zone into the next event, namely Old Ascalon. For those of you who haven't played, Ascalon is currently the starting area for new characters. Ascalon is a kingdom ravaged by the war against the invading Charr from the north. Even with all the devastation, however, some parts of Ascalon are still very scenic and breathtaking to behold. The new zone will allow players to see and experience Ascalon in all its glory before its decimation at the hands of the Charr.
For those of you interested in playing the weekend beta events before the game's release there are three options to accessing them.
1. Pre-order the game
A game pre-order comes with a beta access code that allows you to access all events up until the game launches.
2. Get a friend to pre-order the game
A game pre-order also comes with a one time use friend code that allows access to a single event.
3. Get a weekend pass online.
A number of sites such as fileplanet and MMORPG.com hold giveaways for keys to these events.
