New Feature: SkypeWeb Integration

SkypeWeb allows the online status of Skype users to be viewed on web pages, and fits very nicely with the forum.

Skype also allows up to 5 voice conference, So if you are bored and want to chat with some other HongFire.com member, Just click on their skype icon to see if they are free to chat.

You can download skype for free from http://www.skype.com/intl/ (http://www.hongfire.com/redirect.php?url=http://www.skype.com/intl/) It also comes with many different languages. It's free to chat/Call from PC to PC however it is not free if you want to use skype to call local phones. But all we really need is PC to PC anyways kinda like MSN.

After you installed skype you have to make sure you enable allow my status to be shown on the web option otherwise other members will not be able to see your status from hongfire.com or any other websites.

In the near future I will also integrate the online status for MSN, ICQ, AOL and Yahoo messgers.

Skype has gotten really popular lately. It's good to see that hongfire now has the support for it. But hasn't this support been here for quite some time now? I've seen the option for skype under UserCP >Profile before this annoucement. Was it not functional back then?
***Edit: Oh...I think I understand now. The support for skype messaging has been here before. But this new feature which can capture online/offline status is new. I got it :D

Please note that these functions require that you to be logged into either MSN Messenger or Windows Messenger. You will not be able to send messages to the email address that you are logged into MSN/Windows Messenger with.
As far As I know Window messenger and MSN messenger use same icon type...

I updated the msn icon as well. It should show up after a while or you clear the cache.

MSNM has the msn-butterfly in the icon next to the figure
MSM don't (same icon but no butterfly)

WLM (successor of MSNM in some month) will no longer have the MSN-branding, aka: no butterfly... only 2 figures (one lightblue one green)

As a closed network, Skype is not an efficient solution to anything. I'll look forward to Jabber or Google Talk support, both of which use the open and unrestricted XMPP network.

Well as to the harassment issue, that won’t be much of a problem, because you can ban users from your contact list. As for the functionality, this is to cool I just got my first call from Yokohama Japan, though it was quite silent on both sides, as I don’t know how to speak Japanese, but it was still fun.
