Unfortunately, you can't do it with a FAT32 partition.
Only NTFS supports for more than 4GB.
May I ask you a question?
What's better between FAT32 and NTFS?
I'm using fat32 now...

didnt someone else ask about that error not to long ago??
about fat32 vs ntfs
many small files, take ntfs with small clustersize
many large files, take fat32 or ntfs but without ntfs compression, its going to cause alot of fragmentation, large clustersize
Thanks, but

That's mean I can't open file that larger that 4GB? If so ,is there any way to change FAT32 into NTFS without losing any file?

Buy a second HD, perferably a 250+ gb and put everything you own on that one, then re-format the old drive to NTFS ^^;;

There is a way: use Partition Magic (latest version) and convert it to NTFS. But first you must have WInXP or Win2000 (or server versions) installed, because older win version won't recognize the NTFS partition.

. . . I've tried Partition Magic before ; ; Lost all my information when I tried to do said trick :p I still recommend backing up your data n.n; Partition Magic can be more then a little picky . . .

Precaution is always a good thing. So, I'll say backup first and then you can do whatever you want. :D

Me too, i ve just converted a FAT32 partition to NTFS. Althrough Partition magic only need some 15% of free space on the converting partition, i backup all the files : cannot afford to lose my precious collection, even if there is only a 0.1% probability of losing them. :D

I wanna change to NTFS but can't risk lsoing files. Guess I have to wait till I have enough cash for a new HDD

would be better to get a hdd and format that as ntfs..
or
format/change a partition from fat32 to ntfs(if u have a lot of space left to move files around)
or
if ur going to reinstall xp, use ntfs format...
and..partition magic is really easy to use too...

There is a way, but it is annoying (use partition magic to do it) :
- separate and isolate all your free space on each partition.
- delete all your isolated new partitions.
- create a new one (NTFS) with the deleted one
- copy all your backup datas on that new partition
- redo the processus if you cannot copy all your backup data.
- when all your backup are safe, delete your empty FAT32 and merge it with your new NTFS one.
I'm using ms-dos in winxp to convert it.
command: convert <Drive letter> /fs:ntfs

I'm not sure about this , I think it'll delete all files in that drive.
I do this 'cause I move all files to another drive.

Unfortunately, you can't do it with a FAT32 partition.
Only NTFS supports for more than 4GB.
That is true for a single file in a windows file transfer. But this is the world of torrents. Actually, he can do it and get all the files provided that it is a multiple file archive. If this is a single file like a 4GB ZIP or RAR archive, then no luck. Since it is over 4GB in size, chances are that it is a torrent of multiple individual episodes. It involves thinking outside the Box (since I am originally from boxtorrents and this is hongfire, i guess that is a pun of sorts).
How to do this?
Download files from the torrent so that you don't exceed 3.7GB per download session and then download the other files later or to a different partition if you are doing it simultaneously.
Use a client that supports the ability to pick and choose individual files to download out of the whole torrent. The client MUST also have the ability to do incremental downloads versus preallocated files. These clients include (but are not limited to) Azurues and Tornado.
With Azureus, go to the configuration menu and do not turn on preallocation for the downloaded files. You want to create them incrementally as they are downloaded. With preallocation, all the files of the torrent have their filespace reserved on your drive partition and so it fails to allocate the over 4GB needed. But with preallocation turned off, only a small initial amount will be allocated and as the files grow due to it being downloaded, the filesizes will increase. Because you have a number of files set to "Do Not Download", you will be able to completely download the torrent.
If you are impatient and want the whole torrent now and not one section at a time, run Azureus and Tornado clients simultaneously. This is possible as they are well-behaved and written properly. With Azureus, set the first half of the files to "Do Not Download" and with Tornado, set the latter half of the files to not download. So, one half of the files will be done by one client and the other half will be done by the other client. That way, you get the benefit of downloading while the torrent is still young and the seeders are present.
