Out Of Curiosity, Has Anyone Here Played The SNES Game Tales Of Phantasia? I Played The 100% English Rom And It Was Really Good. I Liked The Way It Was Laid Out And The Battle System. I Was Also Surprised That It Was Made By Namco Too :D . Anyways, What's Your Opinion On Tales Of Phantasia?
it's not really my favorite game
the battle system is a bit slow and
characters weren't that interesting
i think tod and tod2 are much better
Besides Dhaos, I feel that the most annoying event was when you had to fight the monsters in the air while riding that horse. Can't remember how many times I had to restart that fight.
i think the most annoying event
was the fight against undine
sometimes she would use her sword
attack like 2 or 3 times in a row, there's
no way you can survive that. and at that
point i don't even have phoenix or heal

I played about as far as volt's dungeon before getting bored of the game. I believe this was the only tales game done by Tri-Ace (or team wolf I think it was they were called). So that pretty much explains how deep the elements you can find within this game.
First game I played where the only way you can survive the main villain is by constantly slamming him before he has a chance to create an attack that would take too long to recuperate from thus shifting the weights against your party. My favourite spell is Maxwell, can't get enough of the bouncing blackspheres of doom. Besides Dhaos, I feel that the most annoying event was when you had to fight the monsters in the air while riding that horse. Can't remember how many times I had to restart that fight.
I read that the translating wasn't a literal/puristic one but I personal found it enjoyable nevertheless, despite the obvious hate for it. *rolls eyes*

Now That You Think About It, You're Kind Of Right. I Really Hated The Bit Where You Had To Fight The Monsters While Riding The Pegasus. Boss Slamming Will Work For Only So Long As Well. I Also Got Really Frustrated When You Find The Underwater City Of Thor. But Despite All That The Game Was Good Overall. (Archangel Rating: 7.5/10)

This game was good. I like the way the skill system was set up.
The story was awesome. It just sucks that when you beat the game you feel bad for the Main Boss.

Same here
but the story made sense after playing tales of symphonia alot of things are back (tower of the gods, Mana canon ANd that sword). A gamboy advance remake is finaly going to get to europe but i doubt they could make a better translation then dejap. the boot scen was just great (OOOOh cless) :D wel i think they will be delete that part just like they did with skies of arcadia.
Got to learn japanese fast:D

I beat that game long time ago. It was definitely one of my favorite early RPGs. I liked its graphic, battle system, music, storyline. Though I do agree at the ending I felt pity for Dhao. I'm currently waiting for the last episode of the anime version.
btw, that Arche girl was really ecchi XD

Tales of Phantasia rocks! but if you plaed this then you must play Tales of Symphonia or at least watch the OVA, They fix up a lot of plot holes like how Dhaos was origionally sealed by your parents but in the end he dies etc...
Oh and by the way Symphonia is actually a prequl to Phantasia. It also explains links like the eternal sword, the mana cannon, magitechnology, Derris Karlhan, Himdal, the spirits (cept celcius), as well as has some interesting factsd e.g. Suzu Fujibayashi and Sheena Fujibayshi, as well as the naming of Yggdrasil etc...
