Art directed to within an inch of its life, everything carefully lit and every surface crawling with retro floral patterns like some kind of fabulous rot, A TALE OF TWO SISTERS is a showcase for director Kim Ji-Won. A far cry from the black comedy of THE QUIET FAMILY (the movie that put Kim on the map) and the wrestling madness of THE FOUL KING (the movie that made Kim a blockbuster director) this is a quieter, more troubling film, veined with the underplayed, precise violence of THE SHINING.

Description:
Two sisters, Su-Mi and Su-Yeon arrive at utopia: an enormous country house by a lake, rustic and wooden, warmed by bronzed 70

Un un, this is still a KOREAN movie, but watch it. If you are into japanese ones try Ju-on (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0364385/) as well.
Yes american movies as jumpy, not really scary.

Korean movie, and i didn't like it, it had a good atmosphere but at the end it wasn't frightening at all, with the odd scare here and there.. which didn't make any sense to me at all!

i probably recommend this if you're looking for somethign slightly different but To2S didn't work for me

I personally intrepreted what happened in AToTS as a result of a deluded traumatised mind rather than an outright horror film. But thats the beauty of the film you can take it anyway you want.

Although I gather the film is based on an korean fable.

at first i didnt raelly understand the ending - probably because i was too caught with the movie that i didnt read the subs anymore.
but the second time i watched it, it all made sense and all i can say is that "a tale of two sisters" is one of the best kroen movies i ever saw.

this is one of the greatest horror i've watched so far. The storyline is very intellectual, the atmosphere is very scary.
I think u can compare this movie to The Others starring Nicole Kidman, but far more better.

I don't think it's really a horror movie as much as a suspense movie. You shouldn't watch it to be frightened, but for the atmosphere.
