Geisha cosplay.

I'm planning on cosplaying as a geisha for Anime North (Canada). When I mean geisha, I'm thinking along the lines of Zhang Ziyi in "Memoirs of a Geisha" with crazy-good-dangly-ornamental bling in my hair. XD Probably a nice crimson fabric, alter the kimono to be off-shoulder, with a lacey undershirt underneath, and a slit up the center back to completely show off my calfs from behind when I walk.

But what is sexier, a fan or an umbrella?

Hey, very cool idea, I geisha's are very very sexy, you'll deffinately pull it off nicely.

But to get a good opinion out of us HF guys, post some pics of the final result with the fan and with the umbrella.

But my vote is gonna be with the umbrella, as long as its one of those antique bamboo style umbrella's.

Hmm, I think it's a hard desicion. Fan or Umbrella.

Umbrella - in my opinion it's for girls-like geishas who wants to be sensual and seductive, but it is all subliminal. It is veryp playful and a symbol of youth.

Fan - i.m.o. is for lady-like geishas who are already very seductive and sexual. It's more mature in the end.

For me I didn't use neither of the acessoires for my geisha cosplay. I don't like stereotyped ideas （｡◕‿◕｡） if you want you can take a look here :)

@asiandelicous: very nice, gives a feeling of sensuality but at the same time shows some skin which makes it very sexy.

@bunnywink: I'd say go with the fan, somehow I can't seem to get the picture of a geisha with an umbrella into my head.. guess I've never seen something like that before.. NO WAIT! I saw some in Samurai Champloo and Tactics :rolleyes:

Yeah you can host them off site and then post them. I would really like to see your take on the costume since their is so many different ways to do a geisha costume, that and geisha costumes are really really pretty. I wish I could walk around all day with a big floppy bow tied on my back ;_;

I'm wondering if I could pull of the geisha look as well as you do. o_o Everyone tells me I have such a baby face, so far I've only been able to pull off lolita looks. n_n;;; But, having just turned 20 a few weeks back, I want to try and break away from my usual childish appearance. T_T

I like the umbrella Setsuko from Soul Calibur 3 uses. LOL! A sword comes out of it! So far I'm leaning more towards a fan, since I've seen quite a few kimono clad girls at cons weilding umbrellas.

I won't be able to post pictures for awhile, since the con I'm going to is in May. XD But I sure will once the costume is complete.
