Ok now this...supposedly is an 'online game' that one person hosts, or creates a 'fragment', then other ppl connect to you. I'd like to know HOW to do this so i can play it x.x

Figure if i post it here one of you will work out how to host a game...

Chances are though none of us may be able to play this, but if anyone can work out how to host, please share how. It's supposedly also possible to create a fragment using a pc, and letting a bunch of ps2's connect to it.

In a way? This is sad, us needing to hack .hack to play .hack :D

Nope, somehow japan got the ps2 version now. With a PC version soon to follow (maybe that is what comes out next year?)

Either way, i think it's an online only game, which ruins the point of anyone playing it (especially if this is a japan only release).

If i remember correctly from the trailer... this was both Online and Offline...
Fragment OnlinexOffline was the name of it... the 'creating a fragment' feature was creating your own dungeon supposedly... if it is... fun possibilities there ^^;.... but im wondering..... how do you connect... without the PC software? (assuming it uses something similar to XBConnect [PC finds XboX, PC sends game data to XboX])

You need the PS2 modem to connect to the net and the PS2 hd to save the dungeon datas. Both bought seperately from the console. No idea when the com version will be out. There are news for the English version for G.U, but no news for Fragment. May take awhile judging from the scale of .Hack//Fragment. They even plan for periodical 'virus' injections too to make it seem like trouble in the original game. Gonna take some time to set up a center server for the English version for those side dishes.

I don't get your question, just click on the big uppercase OFFLINE that appears in the first screen. Then it asks to save in your mem card. And after that you choose your character type, colors and name. Finally, you have a boring tutorial from one of the characters that join your party (didn't play after that).

You don't have to pay any fees, however if you do go online I highly recommend a usb keyboard :D

It will not work online if you are planning to use swap magic for those of you that dont know.

but won't DNAS detect a doubled disk ID and ban it or the fact that a copied game is being played?

in regards to the first post. you download a program known as the AREA SERVER from this page

(the top link of the three is the necessary setup file for the AREA SERVER program(21mb), the second is the manual in pdf format (2mb, in japanese) and the third, a link to the area server BBS(forum))

once you've installed and launched the AREA SERVER program on your computer you'll notice four options (they should be explained in the following picture)

right now you should probably make the connection via Hub/router between your PS2 and PC, it can be done wireless for the PC if need be (my PS2 is plugged into my wireless router and my laptop still accepts it), you'll need to make sure that your PC is being forwarded a port between 20000-20100, remember whatever number it is. (If you need help with forwarding a port, i reccomend you google it, im too lazy to explain it right now(i will if needs be though))

once you've created your server (word lists, word properties, map layouts etc.) and saved it in any one of 100 slots ( im assuming you'll know how to make and save a server, if you don't though, post and i'll guide you through the process of creating one) exit the map editor and enter the AREA SERVER option (the top one) and click area/エリア and choose the first option, a window will popup saying that it is looking for a connection to the PS2, leave this window open whilst you load up .hack//fragment. Once at the main menu pick AREA SERVER option (the bottom one if you can't read english) and input your PC's IP address and the port number you previously forwarded. After thats done you should notice on your PC that whatever root town you chose for your server will now be viewed on the AREA SERVERs interface, this will allow you to monitor player's position/hp/sp/names within your server/root town/field/dungeons, and also give you the option to boot who you choose (dont do that too often though, its not nice).

To enter a server, head to the 'lobby' once your in the 'world menu', pick any random discussion room, press triangle and select the top option from there, then pick a server to go to.

Just feels down on my luck that i found this thread so late....

Staring at zero peers and zero seeds.... now i feel like i got left out on something huge.

Did someone say that a PC version was suppose to come out? If that is true, when and how can i get one? (But my depressed side is telling me that there isn't such a thing as a PC version =_=")

I'll start seeding it sometime today. Although I think I'll have to recreate the torrent. Anyway, I have to install a new OS after which I'll create the ISO, rar it, and then seed. Just wait for a little longer.

EDIT: Done. Make sure that you inform me of its playability. I recently installed Linux and only have it. So I can't be 100% certain that I made everything correctly, despite my long history with computers and torrents.

Also, my computer freezes on occasions, so avoid posting 'seed you sob' replies. I do seed, you just have to be patient until I'll reboot my computer.

Oh, and, my upload speed is pretty low. Please do not complain. The average download speed I get is 5kb/s. So be thankful that I can afford to give you 25kb/s. And the file only weights 1gb. Surprisingly...

Another EDIT: It seemed to me that I had failed. So I uploaded another different torrent that I made in a different program. Let us hope that this one works. And dammit tell me if you can't find me, the seed.

Yet another EDIT: I removed the torrent. Check the next post I made a new one hoping that it'll work.

well, you burn it on a dvd, then play it on a cracked ps2..... apparently ps2 emulators don't work with this.

PS2 emulators are unreliable one way or another, for the PS2 system differs greatly from the PC, they both have different emulation and hardware. They work completely different. Particularly the graphics, it's great that we're able to play PS1 games on the PC, but that's about it.

Point is, it's best to buy a PS2, mod it, and play to your heart's content. Very few PS2 games will run on the PC and those that do will at some point break down. You'll have to way of bypassing the place at which you will have gotten stuck.

umm just so everyone knows its basically impossible for anyone that d/led the game to go online with it (even if the servers were up)

the servers on the other hand have been gone since 2006 i believe BUT coldbird and his group seem to be working on trying to get the game on a private server basically with translations but they are doing translations first it seems (not sure)

however u need a real .hack//fragment CD inorder to go online due to some dnas thingy idk

in the mean time u can still play offline with a bunch of the characters from the .hack//series

i think someone posted the forum called theworld...that would be coldbird's forum ...if im not mistaken other than that right now i have no computer its in the shop im using moms laptop and unable to seed at the moment when i get mine back i will seed for all XD but not all the time (once in awhile is good lol)
