Hello to everyone viewing this thread. If you are unfamilliar with the GBA game Golden Sun (old game) you are just as welcome to those who are. Those who have played Golden Sun or its sequel please feel free to post comments (good or bad), questions, etc. I'm currently playing Golden Sun 2 after a long lloonngg time.... :D
My overview of the Golden Sun series:
-The story is about a young group of psynergy ( sorta like magic) adepts(psynergy users) who are trying to prevent the other group from unleashing alchemy onto the world. Alchemy's power was once abused and was sealed to prevent it from destroying the world. These heroes must chase the others through 4 lighthouses, each when lighted will unleash alchemy upon the world.
-This story is so large, that a sequel is required to finish the story. You know look from the other group's view. 2 lighthouses have been lighted, and your off to light the others, unaware that you will soon learn the secret behind the sealing of alchemy.
Uhh..yeah, the game is pretty hard to find now, but they might still have it on ebay or something. If your interested in RPG, gorgeous graphics, and in-depth plot, you should get this game. ;)
I think I'm gonna replay that game again, lol
Sooooo much fun. Some of the puzzles were ridiculously difficult, though... And I never got myself around to experiment with the job class combinations. There were some cool ones, but it seemed like the basic classes for each characters (with all the matching Djinis) were the strongest overall.

Although the basic classes (slayer, hero) are indeed strong and very reliable, with the new class items (mysterious card, training whip, etc.) and more djiin combinations than ever there are definitely some better classes out there..
Isaac-Master-4fire d.-5wind d.=the ultimate ninja class, stats are just outstanding.
Ivan-Wizard-7water d.-2wind d.= The best healing class for Ivan, with great stats.
Garet-Chaos lord-7earth d.-2fire d.=Chaos lord.......observe.
Chaos Lord Hero (Garet's final basic class)
HP :968 HP:906
PP:180 PP:181
ATK:620 ATK:512
DEF:326 361
AGL:292 191
LCK:4 7
OK. So aside from a few equels and such, many would consider Chaos lord the superior, correct? And the Chaos lord is'nt even Garret's best class.
I know alot of these classes can't be gained for the first part of the game, but you won't be disappointed.

golden sun is a classic
golden sun the lost age is one of the best rpgs i've played .. why ? because it has a huge amount of secret to unlock and some bosses are the hardest 'ive played so far .
it' also a great thing that the final boss is powerfull regardless of your level .
Really a great balanced job great graphic and a great explrating system . the music is well made too
My only regret is that the end still feel rushed and i wanted a true end than this picture ( beautifull pictures by the way )
i have these games originals and i won't sell them no matter what happens

Im a gamer who is not satisfied with just more of the same. What i look for on a sequel is changes on gameplay. GS2 was just more of the same n bigger. Me not satisfied with that :)

I loved golden sun. Number 2 was good two....except for one annoyinh problem....
THE DAMN SHIP IS TOO SLOW!!! NOT TO MENTION THE HORRIBLY WEAK MONSTERS ON THE SEA!
Except Poseidon. Just getting to him was a pain... and fight was pretty tough too, even with the Trident.
EDIT:
*spoilers*
I memorized that stupid 'dance' that little kids were doing that blacksmith's village, thinking that doing it would open a secret dungeon entrance on one of the stones or something. lol
I sure was surprised when I figured out that the whole thing was to get to weave through the tides... and I did it by accident too. I started spinning around one of the volcanoes in frustration and saw the tides stop. @_@

I mostly played the second one. I spent days trying to get all the items from the blacksmith. I managed to get all I needed but this suposedly great sword(cant rememeber the name of it). Kept having to reset everytime it gave me something I already had, until, finally I got it, and it wasnt even that great.
Dark Blade is stupid. It's cursed, and even without the curse, you'd much rather have the Sol Blade anyway. Dark Blade had the best basic offense in the game, but Sol Blade's special was waaaay better.
Excalibur and Masamune in that game was pretty badass, too.
BlackInfinity
11-16-2005, 10:21 PM
Don't shun dark blade too bad cuz it can toxicate, good chance too, but indeed the Sol Blade will always remain the Ultimate weapon. But don't ignore the other cursed items, like armor or headgear, their boosts are insane! And curse is what the cleric ring is for ;) .
Same as Jona87, couldn't finish lost ages. The gameplay got redundant. I liked the first one very much but the second one was a bit too long. I also got too attached to the characters from the first one that I didn't very much like playing as the other guy in the sequel. The continuation of the story was well done though. This sort of seemed like lunar but I liked lunar better and like lunar, the sequal wasn't as great.

true , during the "find the trident" part thngs get borring , but golden 2 has one of the most chalenging alternative boss in a rpgs for me
BlackInfinity
11-17-2005, 08:33 PM
Do you mean Durandhel? He was optional but you needed to beat him to get the final summon. I almost broke my gameboy fighting him.
the most frustrating boss for me in golden sun 2 was the old guy flanking himself with elemental spheres (i forgot his name). that was a annoying fight. :(

You must mean star magician. Yes he was a hard one too. What you have to do is take out his refresh and guardian balls (forgive me if that sounded wrong). His thunder balls aren't much of a threat, but you should watch out for the red ones in case they use angry mine, which K.O's more than half your party...
Golden sun is a nintendo game thus into the nintendo forums it go

all the optionnal boss were fun and somewhat hard especially if you are not prepared i actually managed to let him bring the 54th blue sphere ...( it was a very long fight )

Golden Sun... One of the first great looking game on the Gameboy. I was stunned by the graphic, it had an exceptional story + art + gameplay. I finish Golden Sun ages ago, and then started on Golden Sun 2, funny thing is I got practically everything in the game, beat the strongest boss, and just ready to fight the last boss and see what kind of ending I get...I put my gameboy down, play some other game on the PS2. Forgot what it was(maybe FF). And then try to come back and play it again after a few weeks...and didn't feel like playing it anymore. So I never got to see the ending...
same thing happen when I was playing Wild Arms 3.
I learnt a lesson, finish something before start something new.

haha, no this was one game I actualy did finish immidiatly. though i did have my regular I'm-in-the-middle-of-the-game-but-i-feel-like-I've-missed-to-much-so-I'l-start-from-the-beginning-again moment.
I was surprised how good the graphics looked. most towns/villages and other special places looked so good! wish i could say the same about battle effect, but sometimes all you see are flashy dots, whatever doesn't matter.
I love djinni XD and summoning. its great that you can change class with the djinni you equip, sometimes it gets boring to have the same class all game long.
anyway, I liked the 2nd game a bit more then the first, hehe, first of all because there is more of everything ofcourse, but also because the story got to make more sense then chasing-after-a-kidnapped-person.
only strange thing i found is that you can fight without anything equiped =S XD

I played Golden Sun, but after i get to half of the game, I suddenly stopped playing it..
Although, after Golden Sun 2 came out, I played it and finally I beat the game.
Golden Sun is an average-looking rpg game, but I recommend to follow the quide when playing it.

i loved the first one lol enough to get to level 78 lol final boss was killed with magic and normal weapons without djinns. I found there to be to many bugs in the second version such as when i was exploring the islands i went unto an island entered a random battle got back out and my boat had disappeared... i was playing on an emulator(GS I on gba, GS II on emulator)and i hadnt saved in a long time cause i had been playin for a long time i had to start over because of that bug i was so pissed especially when i had to get to poseidon for a 5times... stupid currents...

can't you say why you hate this franchise ?
this kind of answer are soooooo lame ...

When did I ever say anything about hate? Hatred has no place in a world of unconditional acceptance.
Then stop posting negative spams. You've been here for barely two months, yet all you do is make incohesive statements merely designed to piss people off. If you're depressed, HF is not the answer.

k, bak on topic...yea..this game was da bomb. seriously, i loved number one and lost age. i only made it through the second one with a strategy guide tho :p and, even if i remain skeptical of the revolution, if camelot decides to make another golden sun for the rev, i would definitely get the rev just for this game, kinda like me gettin xbox 360 jus for halo 3

i just downloaded the ost .. of both games ..i found out that i like almost all the songs of this saga ..

I'd maybe try out a GS for the Rev but probably not for the DS.
golden sun was the best. so good that when the sequel leaked version came out 11 days before the actual release date, i rushed to finish it before it came out. managed to finish it in 9 days. no sleep that week... Only Golden Sun made me think geez, what if that were to happen, due to an amazingly well thought out and expressed story

thats cuz wise one is hella powerfuler . Alex gets as much power as his body can handle, which isn't alot. Wonder what happens to him, GS should really make a sequel.

It took me days finishing the second the first time, it took me the double to finish it and find all the summoning tablets by myself, some of which, were useless.
And yes, I think Alex is alive, he recived the strength from the 4 lighthouses, didn

I hope they make a sequel for GS on the REVOLUTION!!!!!!!
One thing that always frustrated me was the wind-elemental weapons. Excalibur was the best one, I recollect (no idea why it's wind-elemental but that's beside the point). They had level 1 specials, which happened fairly frequently but not much stronger than regular attacks... Level 2 specials did ungodly amount of damage, but they would pop up randomly when you least expected.

the ending of gs2 pissed me off because the story just stops and nothing ever gets explained.
BlackInfinity
12-30-2005, 10:16 PM
As far as i remembered, Sheba's history was never explained, and what tied those dwarfs in with anything? What happened to Alex, who seems to have been buried beneath the mountains? And what about the mysterious werewolves? whats their history in the races?
A GS sequel seems like it should be already made and thought out of, yet there seems to be no chance of a making. Does anyone know a way to get ahold of the creators?
I guess i may be complaining too much, after all its just a game, but to me good RPG's dont leave unanswered questions.

Golden Sun is da best (alongside fire emblem and the tales of ...series)
In order to "finish" golden sun you need to play both games (or cheat but then you don't count). Then the game gets good... Best Psy Energy: Summon Dullahan, Best attack: Megido or legend (depending on the enemy's resistance and what level legend is released) and the best spirit is IRIS
My bro finished the game (level 99 all sprits, best equipment, without cheating) and he is unbeatable HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA
at this level normal attacks can do more damage than judgment XD
So for all of you people who didn't finish the game SHAME ON YOU ...lol
