If you look at the one you like more closely (http://files.3dm3.com/competition/cggirls/awakening_Beauty.jpg) you'll see that it's oddly stylized with some of it unfinished (e.g. right hand), presumably intentionally. :( In fact I'm deeply suspicious that it's been traced. :eek:

It's interesting how overloaded the term "CG" is. "cgfolks" seems to be dedicated to 3d renderings (not to mention "3dm3.com" :rolleyes: ), but there are hand-drawn CG entries too.

yeah...most are 3D renderings with Maya or similar and finished in photoshop, since this would be the forefront of the computer art discipline (3D is newer than 2D as far as computer art goes) but some are just created in painter.

i guess realism is the aim. if you want realism, there is less skill needed to render a 3D model of a human form accurately, than to draw a face accurately (and i mean salvador dali accurately)

Hm, you could rate this pictures by several aspects: realism, artistic value and, well, beauty (since the contest is called "the most beautiful CG girl"). The last aspect is the most subjective, though. And how to compare a 2D anime-ish artwork with a CG render? :p

If I had too choose (kinda randomly): I like the funny Psycho Girlfriend (No. 5), the Ghibli-like Ohayo! (No. 16) and the Biker (additional entry).

Btw, the "awakening beauty" one looks really a bit odd ... like a photo with an ugly PS filter over it ... >_>
