Read the novel
The TV it's a good modification, is it ended at 6th episodes?
I wish they choose a younger actress for Hermes though
The current one is too "old" compared to Densha

Your welcome, one of the reasons I brought this here, is I want everyone who likes anime, manga, or is any type of "Otaku" to see it because there is no doubt in my mind that there is something you will find amusing or something to relate to in this show.
So please everyone enjoy. :D

Interesting story so I'd like to watch it too :) From what I know, the whole "story" is actually the chatlogs of people who used 2Ch to talk to the man after the incident on the train. A real love story. You can read the Densha Otoko's chatlog and the whole background story on the sites below if you're interested. Chatlogs in JP of course ;)

Densha Otoko is really an awsome show, it's good to watch something with a story after way too many reality shows on tv here. And the music when it goes to the anime intro, is sweet, and so is the ending. It reminds me of the uniqueness in "I Believe in a Thing Called Love" from permission to land. Its refreshing to find some new good music.

I'm glad i'm not him atleast. But I see some other people I could a little bit resemble with. That guy that was shooting at the girls ankle for shots and drooling over see an anime girls panties just scared me. Or most of those people started to scare me, is it really that there are so obsessive people down there in japan with their cameras and waiting for one hot girl playing as a seishu in animation? They sit in some weird cafe's and style the card they just took and there's cosplays girl giving them like a menu or something.
That isn't very healthy isn't it? Anyway the show looks fun for now ( Have only seen episode one) , so I will watch it a bit more.

I agree with you. Those people have sure some problems. And the cosplay cafes... I was there to check it out. I won't say anything about how expensive it is (uh I said it :p) but I think its ridiculous unless you can fap at them :P Playing some games with cosplayers? I can play cards with my mom too. (In the place where I was the cosplayers were just serving drinks etc)
In the end it's not scary but not normal for the society. Unless they don't give any damage to any other people I could careless if they are drooling to see a panty or going to cosplay cafes. We should be thankful to them for their excessive consume which helps to the circulation of money.

And my reply was, it's a drama and Japanese dramas really like to over-dramatize things - a lot more than their Western counterparts. But, it isn't called "drama" for nothing ;) The people in RL in Akihabara aren't really like the people you see in Densha Otoko.
I can really see Anime fans trying to identify themselves with this series :/

Still even if you say so, there must be lot's of desperate people who might fap to hentai anime. Nothing bad against people about it, but isn't that like just doodles. Isn't it only going to leave empty wishes within them, right? Sure watching anime is okay but as long as you don't go totally weird in it and start to falling in love with it so it change's your life.
I don't know how it actually is in Japan but it's still too weird I think.
Arn't these people then one of those extreme one's?

Anyway, you're probably right. Another thing Nave-san mentioned while reflecting on what he saw from the drama was how Anime and the like is far from reality and also how he must have a goal in life. So, I think it's fine for people to indulge themselves in these fantasy worlds just like how a lot of people like to do so in MMORPGs as long as they know the difference between reality (i.e. what's going on in their real life) and the virtual get away.
There was a poll on another site about this drama and one of the choices was "It's life changing." Many people who voted picked that option and I think they're reflecting about themselves just like how Nave-san has after watching the drama.

yeah i can see what your saying but you have got to admit the characters are really fun people. yamada's otaku friends are good comic relief among the countless others on the aladdin channel. and the choice of music is quite interesting, i cant take myself away from the soundtrack. good stuff really. i was told the series was spanning into 12 episodes but it looks like it ends at 11.
ah well, alls well that ends well. did anyone watch this series for a specific reason??? i was turned to it by a friend after a random occurrence with an ex-gf. been really good to me since, my first J-drama. :D

Bad thing because you can end up laughing when some of the sentimental scenes get so cheezy, it ruins the whole atmosphere they were trying to achieve. Good thing is it's just funny XD

OK it seems hermes' Brother find out the BBS site that Yamada was in and it seems to upset him i can't wait for Yamada to be punched:)
Anyway Yamada did a nice job on pacifying Hermes' parents it seem to score him some points with the parents specially the hermes' mother.

The saddest scene in this drama: yamada throwing his gundam collection into the river.
The best scene: Yamada luckily gets his collection back and finds a matilda-statue in an additional packege ^^
Just kidding :-)
I like the little sidestories of the other members of the forums. Everyone has their own problems and gets courage to solve them by helping yamada with his little problem. should be funny finding a thread/blog/forum like the aladin chanel in reality.

I know I am going to get flamed for this but here it goes. Why is the main character so whimpy. He is always complaining. I swear. There were a couple of times I wanted to slap him in the back of the head so hard he would come off the ground  . If he gets the girl, he better hold on to her like grim death. Grim death I say!
Not to worry people I am a big fan of Densho Otoko. I am just giving it some criticism. :D

My own opinion:
Yamada should go to a SPEECH therapist I hate it when he Stutters. For once GEEZ let him talk straight, even in his voice message he stutters :)
And it can be more interesting if they have the side story of this guy:

Ok I know the shows ended but there's one more thing I hate about Yamada...
Your in the middle of a hot topic and your gonna bail out because of your favorite anime :))
Speaking of which I gotta watch Da Capo and Gundam SEED Destiny(even if it's gonna suck) LoL!!
Additional Info:
Tsuyoshi Yamada's Mom was played by none other than Keiko Toda, a veteran seiyuu and also the voice of Lt. Matilda Ajan on the original Mobile Suit Gundam
Side note:
The series would be more interesting if Tsuyoshi's Father would be Ikeda Suuichi also a veteran seiyuu in Gundam Series as Char Aznable and Gilbert Durandal in Gundam SEED Destiny. Since Toda-san and Ikeda-san were a married couple before(but they're currently divorced now :( )
And also to make the series more otaku they show make some guest appearences of Real Seiyuu that would be nice.

Ok, off-topic question. Do automatic web-browser refresh happen as it does with Densha Otoko's group or is it fable?Yes, there are message boards that auto-refreshes your browser. Some of them are just like those re-direction pages you come across when a website has moved. Others have a little bit of Java code. I haven't used 2CH (the boards that Densha uses) so I don't know how they work.
Anyway, I never really sat down and watched any of the episodes. Only been skimming through them so I never knew what was going on exactly. Yesterday was a day off uni and work for me so I went on a marathon run and watched the entire series in one go. It's just as funny as I thought it was but some of the scenes and jokes drag on a bit too long.
A brilliant drama series all the same :D I would recommend reading the chatlogs though because the drama is a lot different from the real thing. It's not completely translated yet but someone is working on it:

I haven't finished this yet but I think it is a really good drama. I can relate to Yamada as an otaku but he is way more exagerated than me. I have posters and toys all over my room and I watch anime and stuff but i'm not a total freak or anything. Not totally anyway.
I really liked the sakurai character. His acting seemed better than anyone elses in the series, and his actions had me laughing in my seat. I expecially love the kogals and when they stole his evo..and rings.
Densha was a awesome character as well but i think the director went TOOO over the top with him. He crys way too frequently and makes the worst facial expressions ever.

Hahaha true I liked Sakurai's character too. Like "EVO, RING, COME BACK!" XD totally hillarious. Densha was so and so, I agree with KaM that he started to cry a bit too easily. And so did all the other people reading that forum. I don't know if those people cry because they are stereotype's and are happy for him, or if japanese people really are cry babies.
I'd more relate myself to the guy with lots of PC in his room and never says anything except writing funny picture with japanese words :P. Not that I have wicked long hair as him. More his room, aahh comps everywhere, felt like home.
I loved the series thou, gotten friends with no interest in Jap Animation or as they say "even worse jap drama" to watch it.

I'm also a big fan of Densha Otoko, that show was pure jokes. Though I know that the J Drama itself was fictional, how about the true story that it was based upon. Like I want to see a pic of the real Densha and Hermes, and see how they compare. Like can a real otaku get a girl as pretty as Saori? Or is it a farfetched claim that only inspires hope for the masses of anime fans like me? Well if anyone happens to have a pic of the real people that this story was based on than please msg me. I love it when he was talking to his angel self and devil self while hermes is sleeping
Hermas looks very cute and fit's the role so i can't compint but infact i'd wish they could pick some girls that is cuter and not as tall maybe just becoz densha otoko isn't that tall? hmmm.

Thanks for the site james...greatly appreciated!! :) I think he's the owner of the forums..seeing that his name is in red (probably administrator).
Don't worry, I've just gotten into J-Drama as well.

Yes i am the owner of the forum but you can feel free to speak your own opinion freely in here. Not need to hold back your opinions just because i am the owner. I like good discussions arguments as long as they are mature and not just pointless spams.
Ok back on topic.
I've been watching J-Drama for a few years now. Welcome to the J-Drama world hope you will enjoy them just like i did.

I heard that "A Beautiful Life" is a really good drama. But I'm reluctant to download it. The actor for the main male character in that series is like in every j-dorama, though... -_- I forgot his name, Takuya or something? Is he really that great of an actor?

I finished episode 10 today...and I am going to see 11 in a bit :( I'm so sad because it's already the end!! I hope the alternate ending will be good, has anyone watched it? I heard from my friend that it was really funny. :)
well yeah, i found like a translation of the 2ch forums and how it happened. Although it's incomplete, it is pretty interesting.
Here is the link:

Uh yeah, I watched it. It's pretty funny, but it's not like a new story or anything.

I have a question. How do you watch the video with the subtitles added. I tried it in MPC and it told me that I need to change the video renderer.

Download VLC player. Then open the file, and look at the little box, and check it off (and add the subtitle file to it). It'll play with the subtitles. :kakashi:

now the subtitles are not in sync with the video, at the beginning where noone is talking it is showing "That man ripped you off."

well, never mind that. Before I was trying the subs from the wrong episode. Soon after I discovered that TV-Nihon had subbed the series with static subs which dont require a separate file. I just finished the final episode last night. I would also like to know which special comes in chronological order after the Final Episode of Densha Otoko.
