Oh! Text Hooker is bundle with it but I just can't seem to get it working, even with Atles running *shrugs* maybe it just doesn't work... then again, my laptop does have problems displaying the japanese kanji compair to my desktop, so once I get my desktop up I'll try it again.

Hi all, well i dont really post on this forum so most wont know me :).

Here is exactly what i did in order to get the Japanese Text viewable.

First of all i installed installed AppLoc(AppLocale), a microsoft tool which has various meanings, and will be great in helping everyone display Japanese text on non-unicode platforms.

If you are on windowsXP/2000 then you must have East Languages enabled in the Regional/Language tabs.

However, apart from already having Japanese enabled in windows and having this program available for use, there is still one more problem.

Shuffle has two methods of displaying text on screen, the direct method using windows standards (thats the setup and the main menu buttons in the game). This direct method requires Japanese Language support and well AppLocale in some cases (like this one...)..
The second method, which is used for the 'character text' displaying (nothing more really), works the same as the first with an extra little addition... It uses 'fonts' to display the text on screen. So you can actually specify which font (of the two), you want to use.

By default Windows has two fonts which support Japanese Text, the MS Mincho and the MS Gothic font. For some reason the fonts which come with windows (XP to be more exact), dont happen to work well within the game. In reality they DO display Japanese Text (in programs like MS Office and so on), but Shuffle just does not accept them. This results in various 'junk text' with big dots and other random charachters.

To fix this, simply download a Japanese copy of Ms Gothic (or MS Mincho), and then add it to your fonts folder (replacing the other one). Then once you are in game, you go to the top menu bar (second option from left with the (C) button, and then open the next option within it, also (C) button).
Now in there you will see the 'font selection' screen. Select the font you downloaded/installed from the list, and it should all work like a charm.

Here is the MS Mincho font i chose to use:

Dont forget to BACK-UP all your files and take note that this was done on a Windows XP system (although it should be the same for Windows 2000)...

To sum this up:
Enable East Language support (tick box), in Regional/Language section of Control Panel.
Install AppLocale from the above given link
Add the above provided MS Mincho font to the Fonts folder and activate it (replacing your old one).

Launch Shuffle! and enjoy the good game :)...

Anyway, ill be glad to further help if any one has problems. This all worked for me, and i am hoping it will work for everyone else too.

If you launch the game with out AppLocale, you still wont see the fonts, even with the corrected MS Mincho file.

I would try retorrenting the same file, usually when they hash check and finds a missing or a corrupt file it should DL those and ovewrite them.

Strange imako1986, how about this open your control panel then click on the Regional and language option.. click on language tick the Instal files for East Asian Language . Then click on advance then change your Language for non-unicode programs to Japanese. If this doesn't help you then i have no other sollution

well another way to view the text in japanese is to change ur unicode language to japanese. it will have ask u to restart the computer. restart then u can view it. u can change it back to english after u play if u want to. oh and u have to go to regional in language which is located in control panel....

im looking forward to that english patch...i can read a bit in japanese but im not too fast at it and i dont know all the words...so an english patch can help.

dude, you mount the iso, you UNPACK the rar when everything is unpacked, unpack the "setup.exe file. That'll start the installation process.

lessonsboo~ Well, if you downloaded it, you'd know that like every game, you dont make a selection every day. Theres actually a long period where you just watch, and it actually took ME 2-3 hours to beat 1 girl.

Something is wrong with the patch. I can't seem to download it properly no matter what I do.

Currently we don't know when the full patch will be released, given that Heklin (the project translator) is occupied with real life matters at the moment so if you really want the patch that bad, guess you'll have to wait like everyone of us. It's a lot of work anyway, so just be patient and grateful that somebody took of his freetime to work on it. It should be out in the next few months, if everything works well.
Atlas+AGTH is a temporary alternative, and if you have some basic knowledge in oral japanese, you should understand better what's going on.

When you finished downloading the file, don't remove it from your torrent program yet. Leave it there as long as possible, you'll be uploading the file to other leechers. That's called seeding ;)
If this chain of seed-leech goes on, the torrent will be alive for a very long time.
