I've tried illustrator a number of timed but I've never really liked it.
I prefer doing such things(what do you call it? out-lining or somethig?) in flash instead :D

Don't know how she looks behind the layer so it's a little hard to say whats good /bad compared to the background.
Anyhow, I think it looks really good, maybe just fix a little on her left(your right) boob and, thats what I could see ;)

Got no kind of idea of who's in the pic :(

Well, I did this one in flash, working on a remake for the face and hair and maybe just out-lines as you have done, then do the rest in photoshop.

The expression the first girl is giving can mean only one thing:

She's Toujou Aya.

It's very easy...assuming that you used Illustrator (from the thread name and image look I shouldn't be wrong), you can simply use the pen tool (keyboard shortcut "P") and draw an area that you'll fill with a darker color. You can also fill this area with a trasparent-to-color gradient to give the image softer shadows.

maybe it's just me bit I think the intersection between her boobs makes her left boob look a little strange, only on your pic thought it looks good in the priginal, It's nothing really.

it's probably because of her arms changing the shape of her breast

the left boob seems to be rather different from the original screenie.
go check, lol!

I noticed the same thing--it's the line of her left breast that forms the cleavage. In your redraw, the curvature is too high--the line goes a bit too far to the left and needs to be a little more smoothly curved. (Compared to the original, it looks like it goes straighter, then takes a sharper turn, then goes straighter again.)

It's possible that that kind of shape might actually happen from squashing, but for this kind of cartoon look it doesn't really work. I think the problem is that if you mentally extend that line to a whole breast, it would look pretty weird.

Ya, the curve may be a tad too high, but imho the lack of shading in cleavage and armpit-area contributes a lot to making the breast look a bit weird.

Anyhow, it wasn't anything that hit me in the eye instantly, it's a nice drawing. ^^

shading with illustartor is a pain in the butt -___-. I assume you want to do cel shading and your problem comes from getting the same outline for the shading and original drawing. The way to do that is you have to duplicate the outline, (you can do this from the layer menu) lock the original copy, cut out the parts you need from copy (with scissor tool usually) and then use those lines to draw in the shading.

Pain in the butt, I don't think there is any easier way to do it :(. Goodluck.

gah I tried that before. Its Not the easiest thing to do. I find it easier to use layer masks. Starting out full transparency and poking holes where the color need to show through. Makes for quick color changes and allows other layers to be droped on the mask and cover up areas. Also not shading in Illustrator makes it hell a lot easier.

would you mind explaining how to use layer masks?
also, is there any difference in the way the final product comes out dependingon whether i use PS or Ill to shade?

I hate Illustrator coz it's so non-intuitive. I'd rather work with high res images in Photoshop or Painter than using illustrator.

Layer masks are forced alpha channels that the layer they are attached to has to abide by them. Same thing as masking off part of drawing or painting. I use them all the time.

right clicking on the layer will allow you to add a mask from the layer menu
