I need to have a decent program where it can check a directory for duplicates, based on various elements

Like maybe
size
file type
CRC/MD5/ some kind of hash

Because, frankly, I REALLLLLLLLLLY need one.

I've downloaded/am downloading these Japanese 'packs' however, I discover, they have overlapping files between all of them (sometimes the booklets, in PDFs, or MP3 files, or AVI files) so I'd like to just download them all and then delete/sort them out, because they are awfully hard to separate, for they have their own folder heirarchy that is sometimes confusing.

T_T Going thru all my current downloaded files and seeing what's in each torrent that I am currently downloading with Azureus has taken me long enough ;_;

i suggest "ace utilities" i have the semi-old version with crack but i dont know how to upload it. Its a nice little program that not only cleans ur registy but i checks for bad and duplicate files all over your computer. I think this is a very good program (dont worry its free from syware and adware so its really safe). Its also nice at some point where it cleans out your computer history...errr that might sound bad but it actual is quite nice ^^. So if you need it and have instructions on how i could upload the crack and/or program you could pm me.

just for background information on ace utilities

For images, there is ODIN (http://www.omegatron.nl/). It's very good at it - at least the old freeware version I use. Current version is shareware ($20, has some limitations) but it looks nice.
Since it might be difficult to actually find an older (freeware) version, post in this thread if you want me to upload it somewhere. BTW, is has problems dealing with a lot (>50.000 or something like that) of images. In that case, you just have to perform your actions in smaller batches...

Get Total Commander from www.ghisler.com and use the almighty search function. In the Advanced tab there's "Find Duplicates based on name and/or size and/or contents" function
