Question is which new characters will they use?

I can't really think of any suggestions for new characters :/

let's all hope that the new super smash bros. will have online play. if it's got that then it'll probably crush the next GTA or Halo 3. Maybe we'll see a wind waker version of link as a new character. or they might open it up and add third party characters like Sonic or the Tales series characters

It will be online. Revolution will have WiFi internet out of the box, and Nintendo has confirmed the new SSB game will be online.

New characters? Kid Icarus, Olimar, Star Wolf, Diddy Kong, just to name some characters within Nintendo's large arsenal of first party characters

I'm hoping for more Fire Emblem characters, Roy and Marth just won't do...

lol FE! i'd wish they would put fire emblem characters also...it'd be a nice twist! :D but maybe it's asking for too much. im just going to wait and see.

With online mode, this is going to be a major hit. Im hoping for a wider selection of characters, at least 50, and no clones, like in super smash bros melee.

Well adding different class of FE character would be good. the 3 unique lords from FE 7 and i wouldn't mind using Celis from FE 4 other char. They could use someone from Custom ROBO wonder would that work or even Kirby's pals from Dreamland.

No it's not asking for too much. SSBM already had two, and was I so disappointed, the two are duplicate of each other!

And Custom Robo is definitely possible, since it's another one of Nintendo's first party franchise. That would be so awesome. They'll probably only put in Ray tho.

Hmm... as an avid SSBM player myself (and friends with quite a few others), I would have to disagree.

While it is a relatively tiny (to the non-player) difference. It MORE than changes your fighting style with EITHER of them.

I'm a Roy player, myself, and I just can't pick up and play Marth to save my life unless I do some special Marth-only training.

It's the same with the other clones... slight tweaking, animation changes, but it works.

Mewtwo (IMHO) is fun to play as, but I REFUSE to play with Samus...

Notice how the only two FE characters in SSBM came from the ones NOT translated? Well, I know, there's apparently some complicated family tree or whatever, but... And yes, the FE games were NOT out in America when SSBM came out (I think)...

But I do hope they'll make some other "clones". My friend and I have to settle our argument over which is better: Speed or power. We STILL can't argue yet, because we're hypocrites. He plays Link and Marth, and I play Roy and Young Link. I still say speed is better... regardless of Roy.

i know it wont happen, but it would be badass if they put in sonic and tails as a team, sorta like the ice climbers. you could even do something cool like a transformation to super sonic and lose tails, sorta a combination of ice climbers/sheik.

alas, they wont do it though :( although i would not be surprised to see a sega character or two in the game.

And before someone says it, ice climbers do not suck :p

Of course they won't. That's just ASKING for a lot of trouble.

The reason why Nintendo uses only their 1st party line-up is because they can do so without having to get licenses, share profits, etc etc. All the money goes to Nintendo. Including even one 3rd party character could mean a 2-5% cut given to that company for the license.

liscenses are normally a one-time fee i thought, but in any case, didn't sega just sign a contract with nintendo saying they were going to develop for their system only, similar to the one square had with sony for a while? I thought i remembered reading that somewhere.

It depends on the terms of the license. It can be done like royalty costs, where the companies get a profit of each sold game, or a large lump sum.

It's just like if you won the Cash for Life lotteries. They actually offer you a lump sum of cash, or you can stick with the money per week. The money per week will, in the end, get you more cash given by them, but the lump sum could, if invested properly, make you more money much faster, and thus generate money better than the weekly cash. It's the same thing here. The license can be for a lump sum of cash, for which the company can throw into its funds, or it can go with royalties, getting small amounts of cash that will, depending on the success of the game, get a lot more money.

And we all know an online SSB game will be a HUGE success!

As for that contract thing, I hadn't heard of that, but I do doubt it. Sammy (Who controls Sega now) wouldn't go doing that. At least not until Nintendo proves to be the top of the market.

I also play SSBM very often and Samus is my favourite character :D
The one I can't stand using are Peach and Fox and his clone (forgot the name). Can you tell me the difference between Fox clones other than the shooting speed of their lasers? And I agree with the Roy/Marth comments, I find Roy much easier to use (although I don't specialise in either character).

Falco. Well, Fox is much faster. Falco's B+Forward special, while the same as Fox's, can't go as far as Fox's, nor as fast.

Overall, Falco is a slower, but more powereful version of Fox. Just like how Ganondorf is to Captain Falcon, and Roy is to marth.

Roy makes most damage with hitting with the middle of his sword, while marth has to hit with the end of his sword <3

I for example like damage more than speed, and my friends aren't even willing to play with me if i take ganondorf :D

And i think, an online-version of ssb would just be buttsecks. Actually, I didn't want to buy me a revolution cause i thaught that i won't have enough time to play it, but this ssb is an argument, which negates all the others.
I'll buy it. :D

A Ganondorf master, hmm? I'm more worried when I fight a Captain Falcon master than a Ganondorf Master (Ganon's slowness makes him easy to avoid).

I suppose when SSB Revolution comes out, we'll have to play. XD

Yeah, i once had a match with a fox master, and i'll tell you - nobody of us got the other one kicked. I missed everytime, and he wasn't able to break my shield *gg*
We even recorded that match and cutted it together with some music by rob zombie i think.

Anyway, yeah, we actually _have_ to play. :D

I would like to have a system where we can download new characters for free over time or new levels from nintendo games clasical or new music to play while you are playing. And less pokemon character or mario characters. I mean docter mario mario luigi peach and bowser. A little less would not hurt. (or they could just put in more characters to even it).

What they need is more Donkey Kong characters, some Kirby characters, some Metroid characters, and a few new ones like Kid Icarus.

The idea to download new characters sounds great, but the problem is then you'd need to keep it stored in something, as the discs can't be altered.

i hope that they're not going to put in garbage characters like mr. game and watch or pichu (wtf?)
