Rawr! Anyone still play this game? I stopped playing it for like years ... then busted it out again and started playing it with some friends earlier this year, and now i'm hooked on it again -.-

Who's your favorite character? or who do you guys play mostly as?

I use Luigi, Dr. Mario, and Peach mostly ... but i definitely love playing as Luigi and Dr. Mario. I love Dr. Mario's cape hahaha .. its the best, especially when fighting against Fox or Falco :D Capeing them off the edge when they try to come back is the best!

I still play, I'm a fan of Marth and Shiek, and I really enjoy playing Game & Watch since I find him to be a fun character to play with, and its funny as hell when I beat people with him because the stereotype is that he sucks, so its a diss to them in a way ;)

I've been playing every time I got close to my gc. But now, for unknown reasons it won't read any disc, the disc will stop spinning and go to the system screen.

Going back to the game: i've unlocked every trophy, level and secret option there is available. Got 4 controllers so the fun is extremely assured. My character is Ganondorf. No matter how damn slow he is, I just land one hit on any character and they go flying miles away. I used to use Cpt Falcon on the N64 but on the GC he's been wimpered down totally freakily. I don't like him anymore, that's why i stick with the triforce of power :)

I use Donkey Kong and Roy the most. I grab people with DK and jump off the edge and take them out with me when I'm about to die.. My friends hate that but it's too funny. I got back into it a little while ago and went looking for the music from the game but couldn't find it. I found and got the concert version but I wanted the game version. Anyone know where I can get it? Anyway it's a fun game and a good multiplayer. Can't wait to see what they do with the new one on the Revolution.

I love a lot of the characters. I'm particularly fond of Mewtwo, being the only Pokemon that isn't all cutesy. I also like Falco. Come on! It's Falco!!!! And Dr. Mario because he has the prescription for kicking your @$$!

Triforce of Courage kicks butt! I just like using Link as his sword has longer range and he's got a grappling hook to help grab enemies and the edges of stages. Plus when I'm totaly surrounded I just press up and B and watch everyone go flying away.

Roy is my favourite character. Being able to fully utilise his Counter opens up a completely new level of play. You can use your opponents' best moves against them (such as Ganondorf's charge punch) and that seriously messes with your oppenent's mind. Not to mention that he has a cool combo sequence. :)

Sheik and his speed are enough to own anyone, being able to chain combos like a madman this character is by far my favorite and my most lethal one, won a couple of tournaments around my house with it but damn, the last one some guy appeared using sheik too in almost a perfect way.... I got kicked in the ass in that battle

I mostly use Jigglypuff with the green headband and Ness. I could knock out anyone with the rollout in any stage plus it kinda looks like a cannon with jiggly as the ball. It's also fun to smack others with pound. The N64 version, I could use the sleep attack and kill anyone even with 0% but the GC I found it's harder for me. Ness is just simply fun with the second jump and blowing himself just to get back on stage but I mostly use the ness's bat and frost.
I wish I knew if there are any real or fake tournaments around I live. I want to see if I'll rule anyone.

Roy is my cheapest character, he's the star for roll-and-smash method.
Mewtwo is my main though, his aerial moves can get you out of deep troubles, literally.

I use Link, Pikachu, or Jigglypuff. You know the person is 0wnage if they can beat you with jigglypuff, which is why im trying to master him. Sleeping the opponent takes such perfect timing though -_-

I haven't stoped playing this game for years, everytime i'm with my friends something strange happen and we end playing this game, no matter how much i play it, it's always entertaining.
Usually we select characters at random and we start playing everything at random and if you do this you can discover with which ones you are best or defeat certain characters also you can have a lot of fun just doin' stupid things.
I play with ness mainly, because i always get a good time playing with him, also pichu. But when the thing is serius I can pick the killing machine picachu or Dr. Mario

Me and my mates cant get enough of this game, we used to play it so much and even had a league.

I wasn't that great at it, kinda average compared to most people but my friends can do some truely awesome stuff!

I like Roy and Samus both quite different characters.

Some nice tips;

With Roy if you play on Hyrule Temple you can easily go to the bottom area and just do little forward smash moves on them, they'll bounce around mad!

With Link a nice move is to grab (Z) and then throw then down and then do the spin (up + B).

Both are kinda cheap moves which allow you to chip away at opponents nicely.

Me and my cousins play ssbm all the time, non stop. Super Sudden Death matches are great, especially if you know how to play. watching 3 guys fly off into the background while 1 is left to pose makes a great a** whooping story ^^. The best characters for me are Falco, Marth, and Roy.Falco is good against human and com opponents, while Marth and Roy are mainly good against human opponents, since a persons actions are so readable you can tell when they're gonna attack and send a counter at them. I need to practice more though, been about 2 weeks since I had a serious fight on it. 3 lvl 9s are a great way to practice your dodging and countering. ^^

first off, you can use nana as a human sheild. You'll notice you dont take dmg when she is hit, and since her dmg is tied to yours, as long as you keep yours low nana is freaking invincible.

They also carry quite a punch. Alone, yea, it's not terribly wonderful, but if you get both hits you'll notice the damage is quite nice. They are also excellent at jumping, so juggleing people around is a cinch once you get the hang of it.

Then, of course, theres the fact you cna carry 2 items at once. Wicked powerful, going fan/basebal bat. Fan holds them in place while nana's bat goes off.

so i encourage you to try them ;p

(they are also the ultimate weapon against counter, cause the second hit will go off if placed correctly)

thats not all you can do with the ice climbers, i remember seeing someone use iceclimbers and have the girl grab someone else, while the guy was charging up a smash attack. its a killer move. the guy who did it says its some sorta glitch, not sure myself though.

Marth in white does not look Gay. I use that color to kick ass. I have never been beaten when i use that color. White/black kirby looks nice reminds me of the good old gameboy kirby games.

u mean the tip and the middle of the sword....which one is which again? i always remmber roys u have to hit it in the mid while marths is from the tip.

You just said it. Yeah, for Roy its the center of his blade and Marth is the tip. Which is one of the reasons why you shouldn't get too close to Roy XD.

Nope no tourney that a know of. That is one of the things i don't get of nintendo. You have a great game with lots of people playing it and asking for a tournament. And they don't make one. What a waste. I know that they had one in Japan for the first one. But in europe, Pha we may even be glad if they organise a pokemon tournament, but even for those i'm to old now. (yes over here you have to below a certain age to compete in it.). This is not to bash nintendo it goes for the other companies as well but microsoft and playstation can be played online, And there are competitions going on there.

I participated in a SSMB Meele tournament at Dreamhack Summer 2005, got myself a huge beating from Sheik. Dr. Mario cant possibly hit Sheik when he is flying around the screen. Really hope to become better for the next one ^^

i like marth and ice climber pretty much. one is faster than roy and one has a clone. althought the clone is stupid sometimes, it is still hard to dodge their attack since they hit twice. i sometimes use Jigglypuff for fun since its cheating on a flat stage

This must be like the best game ever made on the face of the earth, ive unlocked everything all levels(15min survival was a pain),ive tried to use all chars and i found 4 to be my favorite, i am equally good with all the characters i play with Luigi, Young Link, Game&Watch and i used to play fairly good with Ganondorf until i discovered by chance that luigi was much nicer lol. Characters i dislike : Kirby, Fox , Falco, and Shiek for annoying speed and tactics used by most players who wield them. The game is fun when u play agaisnt people who challenge u but till now no one actually has...until like the random loss due to stupid mistakes... overshooting comeback and givin items to noobs... I play the game all the time without the items cause its makes me a better player than if i did have them...u get better faster if u dont use items...

Only not quite. Shiek/Fox/Marth are top 3, below that in no particular order are Peach/Falco/CptFalcon/Samus. So obviously she's good, but not broken. Remind your friends not to down cancel her down smash ;P It's only the players fault if they eat all of its hits.

All the Pro Matches are always between Marth, Sheik and Fox because they're the fastest characters around and the ones that are best at connecting hits.

I use Ganondorf and lately I've tried out Sheik and I came to realize why the xperts use her so much.:D

The slowest characters around are Bowser, Mewtwo and Ganondorf as far as I can remember. What I love about Ganondorf is that he sends you flying with little HP and simple A-button attacks. He's still a slow-clone.

Pikachu was my favorite character in the original but they downgraded him too much in the sequel. :O In SSBM I use Marth, Zelda, and Samus the most. ^^ Marth and Zelda for close combat and Samus for long-distance fighting. I love shooting Samus' missiles at people, it's stupidly fun! :D:p

I use Roy over Marth, soley because im used to the accuracy of Roy's counter and its really over powered. It's won so many matched for me. :D My friend like to spam Peach's up slam so whenever he goes in for the kill, I usually end up turning the tide because its so damn strong.

Although, i try to mix it up with a little Game & Watch, although sometimes i forget that he doesn't have an all purpose counter and try to deflect see to dodge moves.

Jiggly is just so cheap on 4 way melees tho @_@ My cousin has managed to perfect the timing for Sleep so well all he does is wait till there's a massive melee in the middle..float in the middle and Sleep all 3 other people ^^;;

falco + shl + pillaring = just as much pwnage.
falco vs marth is not a bad matchup for falco. shl kills a lot of marth's approaches and pillaring is just about as bad as chainthrowing. that looks like the bombsoldier match to me. i've seen those and it's not a bad match. if you realised that bombsoldier hadn't developed tournament level mindgames and hadn't had much chainthrowing experience before but was still able to run the world champion like that, maybe you'd think differently? you also have to take into account that bombs is very good but ken is the best.

this match doesn't show that marth vs falco is bad for falco

think about it, world champ vs previously unknown player? also pc chris's falco has been getting constant 2nds in MLG tourneys right after ken's marth. i could cite a single set too, one of the ones where ken loses, but one set hardly proves anything.

if anything i think that fact that falco can win despite marth's ability to cg and edgeguard him is a huge nod in falco's favor

super edit: i realise i forgot something really important with regards to marth vs falco (only applies to tournament settings). i mean stage banning and Dave's Stupid Rule, which all big us/europe tournmanets at lest use a variation of, saying that you can't counterpick the last stage you won on. these rules don't get used in japan, which is where the match took place (they only use FD and DL64). this means that most of the time marth's chainthrowing is severely limited by platforms and other obstructions. not only that, but as each player is allowed one stage ban for each set, most falcos will take out FD unless they have an extremely powerful shl (meaning that they own you on FD).

Link is my favourite character in this game. I like his spinning attack and his sword and shield.
I like the swordsman combo.. Link and Roy. Those are the ones I usually pick during a battle with my friends.

WTF? of course this shows that marth is bad for falco. No way that n e body could be dodging every single grab. I'm saying that marth has the advantage of chaingrabbing into a tipper. I'm not saying that marth totally owns falco, just that if ken didnt have it, bombsoldier would prolly have won and his combos r insane :grin:

honestly, though, bewteen pro level shl and the shine how do you plan to consistently land grabs? it's far harder than it sounds. you have no shield grabs, no wavegrabs and when you have enough space to breathe, you're breathing lasers.

marth IS bad for falco but i'm saying that falco is equally bad for marth. no player can avoid every grab, but no player can avoid every pillar attempt either, one or two of which can put marth (and most of the cast) into a killable state. i still think it's a very even matchup character-wise.

as for the player difference in the match. i think bombsoldier has tech skills on par with the very best, but it's pretty obvious that his mindgames weren't there (4 counters in a match or something?). he lost, and falco doesn't have as much to gain from it than other chars, but i was just trying to look at that angle too.

His counter is da best the *ting* fo death, several times have beaten opponents without actually attackin them (until the only use grabs).
The only attack (that is good) that can avoid this is jigglypuff's sleep

Love this game, one of my all time favourites However, I was quite surprised to see such a mixed bag of favourite characters. Honestly, I was prepared to read whole rants on great 'Fox' and 'falco' since they're regarded as the hardest to master, but the very best. Being able to fight and defend against anyone and everyone. Anyways no rants here. So my fav. character is 'Star Fox' won't go into way, but I'll say I love his speed/agility and versatility.
