I've been around for a little while, but I wasn't a very active member the first couple months here. Just recently started posting with any regularity, so I thought I'd stop by and finally introduce myself.

Name's Dan. I've lived in Florida all my life and just graduated from the Univ. of Florida with B.A. in Japanese and a minor in computer science. Before I decided on my major, I went through Astrophysics, Physics and Psychology as possible majors, too. What can I say, I guess I can't make up my mind. :p Right now I'm taking a year or so off before I go and get my masters. I've been watching anime for at least a decade now, but only got into manga when I started college. I'm a pretty laid back guy all in all. I'll see ya around.

What interesting major choices. :o) But space people are cool... my dad's in aerospace engineering, so I'm not sure how close that is to astrophysics, but I'm sure there's some degree of overlap.

Good luck with your Master's! The hard part is getting started... once you get into it, your momentum should carry you through. What will your Master's be focusing on? The language aspect or the computer aspect of things? Or will it be something different that builds upon both?

Astrophysics deals more with composition, movement and interaction of matter in the universe. Aerospace is more about designing the stuff to go check it out.

I'm not entirely sure what I want to concentrate my masters on yet. One idea I had was to look at the treatment of the Ainu during the early stages of Japan's attempt at colonizing East Asia. Another one is analyzing the effect of anime, manga and video games on moving the center of the production of mass culture from America to Japan (or the sharing of it) in the post WWII world.
