If yes, what's were yours expectations comparing to reality?

Friend introduced me to HongFire (the site, not the person), so of course I've met other members offline. :p :D

And I've also met Shragei since he invited me to his miserable failure of a LAN party where we ended up just playing XBox and PS2. :p :D

4 player Halo anyone? :p :D

Oh wait. forgot to mention my answer to your poll. That would be a NO. but i did realise a classmate of mine also comes to HF, but he's a leecher and doesn't post here at all, thats why i can safely say this without fear of him reading this. hyak hyak.

I met her on Unicon, there were some official discussion topic about anime in web,she was one of the organisators, she said something about participating in online forums, and after official discussion there were questions,so I asked if anybody knows HF forum, she acknowledged, when official events ended,we talked privately, because I knowed her from seeing before.

I've met one member offline, when i noticed that we went to the same community college. it was interesting, ableit strange, ya know? you know the person, but you don't :P

Anyhow, i'm looking forward to meeting more of ya at Sakuracon (there's a thread about it somewhere, no need to dig :D ).

I used to play Magic, but i sold my deck for $150 and decided not to play anymore, since the craze was starting to taper off :D

Nope, I haven't met anyone after I've joined HF. I did introduce a few of my friends to this site however. We never talked about it though.

And I'm glad that none of you will see me offline, because if you do, you would just see someone very miserable sulking in the corner of the room everyday. :P

That's the spirit :) But seriously.. me too... although I prefer to be isoed most of the time, I'm pretty emotionless on the outside (that is unless you get me a bit tipsy (that's where the real fun begins :D:D ))

I only know one person here cause he's my cousin's who leeches off of this site, but I guess that sorts counts... sorta.... >.>

Don't say that HaT. I bet you are a wonderfull person to meet in real life :) .And you like anime and manga so it doesn't matter if your thin, thick, small or big, we all like the same things. At least that's how I look at it.

Why not go outside and do some things different then HongFire I know it's hard but if you think the way like you stated. This could be a nice option.

Not via HongFire, though lemme think...in total I've met...

12 close friends, (which could have been 14 if we had better planning :p) that I first knew online first, in person. Everywhere from Belgium to Philidelphia, California (though she was in New Mexico, lol) and Sunderland (city bout an hour an a half's journey from where I live) :p

So I like to travel :p and the New Mexico mountains and White Sands Monument were beautiful. Thankfully I never thought to try an find Black Mesa* :p though did spend over a month on an Air Force Base :D

Expectations compared to reality...pretty much the same, though the couple I met in New York were interesting as they got full swing into one of their lovers tiffs which I was told happens everytime they go to an anime convention. Involved us getting lost and taking the scenic +at least 1 hour detour on getting back to the house to find better directions, as well as J just stopping the car an leaving us in the middle of the road :D lol, you can't anticipate that stuff through casual chat.

generally speaking though, for all the cliches and pseudo-philosophy, people tend to be the same in life as they are online. Perhaps a little more easy going, relaxed an such btu that's just because the physical comparitave ellement of self-confidence and such isn't as apparent, generally speaking.

*Black Mesa: Research facility from Half-Life series based in New Mexico :p

I don't know anyone who comes here in real life.
But I'd like to meet some of you one day.
The only problem is getting that teleport thing down...
I'm kinda far away from everyone, judging from everyone's locations.

never, I expect them all to wear bright colored clothes and a hongfire cap.
Also they continue screaming: ANIME ANIME ANIME ANIME ROXXORZ MY SOXXORZ
And I expect them to have big heads, big shoes, and weird spaggethi like hands.
Also I expect them to hold one of those baloonies on a tiny string and something like glasses... YESH! they all wear glasses!
ehm, and they are hairy... very hairy... like cats
Hairy like cats, cause cats are hairy.
And you all have a rubber ducky in your other hand, cause everyone loves Rubber Duckies.. and You all have a dead mongoose under those caps...

Yup, thats my vision of hongfire members ^^

Ive not many anyone offline, and im not sure i would like to. I sposse it would be pretty cool to put a face to the name (well, the user) but i think id just be freaked out and not have anything to say and end up making a right fool out of myself.
But then again, if you happen to meet me drunk, id have more than enough to say :p
However meeting someone for the 1st time drunk is the stupidest thing you could ever do

Hell no, and I don't want to. It's not that I dislike people here, it's just that on the few occasions when I have bumped into people after getting to know them online - I find I'm talking to a completely different person. I think from my experience that people have an 'online' and an 'offline' personality, which seem to be pretty different. If I like someone online, I don't want to spoil it by meeting the 'other' them - what would be the point? I already have RL friends, so I don't feel the need to 'reach out'...... that and the fact that I have three legs and two heads.......

o.O;

lol... that reminds me of this prank a bunch of my friends and i were going to pull on another friend... he's a very..... outspoken feminist (not that it's really a bad thing... but he takes it too far.... like women should still wear skirts as opposed to pants/slacks...) so we were going to tie him up (with the help of his twin bro) and drag him to a strip club in Tacoma (just to add to the impending doom for him ^^; ) but the plan fell through... as most of us moved or got busy with college and jobs ^^;

I knew some friends who have joined HF because they really wanted to play hgames -_-. Then I gave then the advice to create an account here for dlding h-torrent... Of course, they're only leechers, never talked here... I never met HF members but maybe (this month maybe) I'll meet some HF members because I'll be in Paris (03/24/2006 - 03/27/2006) for a concert. I think we can meet easily some others members during Anime/Game/J-Pop/etc Convention.

There's at least one guy I know offline from Hongfire, he was the one who introduced me to the site. Although he inexplicably got fed up with me a couple months back and hasn't had anything to do with me since then... :( Think he's only posted here like twice anyway. A bunch of other folks I know are aware of Hongfire, but I'm not sure if they're members or not. Even if they are they sure don't post much either, if at all. I wouldn't mind saying hi to some folks in the real world, hanging out or what not.
