i watch someone play it at work and it looks like a lot of fun.
however, i don't believe in paying a monthly fee to play games, so i won't be playing.

My friend told me it was a lot of fun, but I don't want to pay the monthly subscription which makes me want to play Guild Wars since it won't have a monthly subscription and gets its money through expansions.

it is blardy fun and the quests omg... they made it so u get moe exp for doing quests then killing monsters so thats why its so addictive. the more quests you do the faster you level up the more you level up the more access you get to spells and stuff
its just blardy fun, i say go for the monthly fee, then again i hold a very stable job so its no biggie to me. 1 month of wow = 1 movie i don't watch at the cinemas.

I play.
My Night Elf Priest just got her mount, after spending hours and hours in the Scarlet Monestary. Instances are so much fun with a good Warrior and Priest.
It's really great that you can make real progress even if you can only play for an hour, unlike some other MMORPGs where you need to sometimes spend hours just looking for a party.

I play as well. have a few characters. I'm really digging my worlock. There is just something about being able to summon demons that makes it more fun. I don't know how I'm going to afford my mount and still be able to get all my spells though. They get pretty pricey for me and my demon.
Aeonus
02-14-2005, 06:27 AM
Oh, affording your mount will be easy. You get a spell to summon one, and it only costs two and a half gold instead of the ninety everyone else has to pay (Well, everyone else except paladins).

It's a dramatic change from Blizzard's usual work. Blizzard is foraging into the MMORPG world, which is gaining popularity more and more, and developed WoW for this purpose.

Hehe, I just made it to level 59 last night :D...I play a dwarf rogue in bronzebeard ^^. Now I just need to grind for another day or 2 and I'll be 60 finally >.<. Plaguelands is such messed up area. If I weren't a rogue I'll prolly have a tough time getting around :P. level 54+ aggros everywhere >.<;.....waah.....this game is major fun and major addictive. You might ask what is there left to do for a level 60 but there is plenty...need to hunt for better gear doing instances like scholomance and stratholme. Also there is blackrock spire. The only drawback right now is my server where it is hard to find party mates of my level :/.....but there's a new level 55+ guild just formed so maybe that problem can be solved :D.
Lv 60 Undead Warlock here...
Quiting at end of the month...
WoW <---Not made for long term playing...
The game is still pretty buggy and unbalance...
I will wait for a few months of patching for it to get better then replay it...
This game is great! Although it can get into my nerves sometimes (maybe a lot of times). Some of the quests are just so uselessly long and the returns are so little. And i've tried several quests, spending several hours, only to find out that that quest is bugged=( All-in-all the game is great!

60 Orc Shaman
Gorgonnash Server
2nd Leader of The Dark Society (3rd or 4th biggest on Horde side)
Singaporean Guild
Carries Hand of Edward the Odd (drool my shaman friends :P)
Quitting soon
This game is really good forcasual players. Grinding all the way up the first time is fun. End game is just...not there. EQ2 is introducing adventure packs, new high end content slowly. WoW only has...Molten Core and Onyxia. Last latest instance is Maraudon, a level 40+ dungeon and they are introducing a level 50+ dungeon the next content patch (which took them a long time to come up with CONSIDERING how fast you level up).
I've hit the brick wall. The only thing I do for fun is to kill those @!#$!@#$ Alliance Paladins and /bow and /salute at Alliance Warriors. Mages are fun to kill too, they are squishy :D
For singaporeans here interested to join my guild, message our officers. Leader now would be Perpetua I think.

i play, 48 priest right now. They made leveling to easy and quick and it causes hardcore players to lose interest quickly, this is what happened in shadowbane and it looks like wow took its leveling time from shadowbane. Of course I'm not complaining b/.c im a casual player now but the lack of high end content is troubling.

Lol, you are a priest so don't worry. If what I know, priests do not really solo fast :)

03-11-2005, 01:15 PM
well Dark Priests are good......but priests are not the best solo......i think hunters and warlocks are
Faylar
03-12-2005, 04:12 AM
Hunters are the best throughout the game. I'm not sure about warlocks; they seem to have some problems here and there everytime. Rogues are nasty solo at level 50+, they can clear an entire cave in Felwood without downtime (seen my rogue friend done it)

Hunters are good solo, but like paladins... they just have no place in a high level party... Warriors can pull, Mages deal more damage, and this is coming from a Hunter himself...

I agree that hunters are not that useful in a party, but in a raid, they can be very useful. Rogues feel so helpless in big raids...they have to look for a nice mob to attack and MELEE it. Before they can reach 5 combo points, the mob is dead. That's where the rogue frustration kicks in. Hunters? Hmm, you just have to click on a mob and auto shoot. It's much simpler. Plus, hunter's mark can get everyone's attention.
Pulling > All classes can pull, even shamans. Smart shamans use purge to pull from maximum range. I don't know about paladins though...
Mages indeed do more damage, but in raids, downtimes are usually not wanted. Mages are limited to their mana pool (x2 if they have evocation) to deal damage. Rogues have their usual frustration. Without eviserating properly, their dps isn't so great. That's where hunters fill the spot for dps.

okay, im a Druid, and i have to tell you, druids are the most suckiest class out there BUT they are great tankers and putting a hunter's pet to sleep is so much fun. Though high lvl hunters dont rely on their pet that much anymore so its only fun at low lvl. Even if the druid is the suckiest class, its still worth being one.

That's not true. The Druid is a fantastic class (this is a shaman speaking, you know how people say that why would people play druids on Horde when there's shaman). Every class sucks in their own way, even the so-called overpowered shamans. You'd think my PvP specced shaman would easily beat a PvP specced warrior =p Mortal Strike is a pain.
Let's go through a few things about druids:-
1) Druids can tank (most people disagree, but my guild's druid tanked Baron Rivendare with only 4.4k armor. I've seen armor crazy druids with 7k+ [Warden Staff, etc]
2) Druids are the 2nd best support/healers. I heard they can get a 50%+ to crit with one of their spells (the one with direct heal followed by regen)
3) Druids can stealth (meaning to say that they have the ability to gank)
4) Instant cast travel form
5) Some means of Crowd Control (sleep and root). Shamans don't get ANY form of CC (unless you want to count things that slows...I mean...why would you want to kite in a group)
There are many reasons why one should play a druid. My guild laughed when someone mentioned 'let's get a druid to tank for us since there are no warriors'. We didn't expect to go as far to Baron Rivendare. Then we start asking the druid to spec for tanking :D
Druids are good because of their flexibility to feel in a role in a group. Shamans? pfft. You want a shaman to be main healer for the group? You die. You want shamans to be main nuker? You are crazy. You want shamans to tank? Well, the MOST is can tank is Maraudon, a level 40+ instance. Druids can tank end game instances! Even paladins cannot do that. Paladins go no form of taunting so once they lose aggro via those war stomp thingy that knocks people away, they are going to have a really really difficult time to get back the aggro.
Shamans get their own form of taunt, but we don't get Plate, we don't get 360% increase to armor when in bear form.
Love your druid :)

We hunters (lvl 60), are outraged at blizzard for making us fairly useless endgame. I will admit though I am quite the avid pvper, and am great in 40 man raids because i add not my own damage but my pets damage as well, i crit 20% of the time, and fully buffed in 2 mins can do as much damage as mages can with full mana pool, but, we hunters are for constant damage and not 30 sec sperts of AoE's or very powerful fireballs. We are a wildcard class the only ability i don't have is to heal, but that is what first aid and trinkets are for :)... What is a shamans pull range again, mine with some great equipement and talents is 45 yards.
We do alot more then press autoshot and shoot, seriously thought what makes a hunter useless in parties??? Enquiring Hunters want to know!!
Faylar
03-25-2005, 08:51 AM
I'm not saying that Hunters are 'useless'. It's just that hunters do not really fit in really well in 5 man parties.
A party should consist of:
1) A CC (mage > poly, rogue > sap, warlock > seduce etc)
2) A Healer (Druid, Priest)
3) A Tank (Druid, Warrior)
4) DPS (Rogue, Mage)
5) Support (Shamans/paladins?) or any one of the above
Yes, a hunter can CC with his frost trap, but unfortunately, it's hard to do and you cannot choose your target.
Yes, a hunter can do DPS, but Rogues can evis for abnormal damage and mages can really eat the mob up if they want to. Plus, mages has several utilities like Conjure Water etc, making them more likable in a group. PLUS mage's awesome AEing capabilities. Rogues are one class I see who can increase their over dps over time and then it becomes stable at around 200dps. Hunter cannot reach the dps of a rogue, nor can it be compared to the usefulness of a mage. Thus, the spot for hunters are taken.
And pets usually bring trouble in cram instances like SM. Always brings trouble. Same with warlock pets.
That's where Dire Maul comes in. It is open spaces, big and spaceous, perfect for hunters. It's one of the instances where hunters really shine :)
EDIT: Our druid tanked The Beast and Rend Blackhand in UBRS today =)

Well the thing is I play both my Shaman and My Druid. And Shamans definitely have no form of crowd control, I mean I'm a Tauren Shaman and I have Stomp but if it comes down to it I can't heal very vell so I depend on other people to heal me. =(. My druid on the other hand can solo and crowd control really well. Only problem is Shamans get their Ghost Wolf at 20 and Druids get Travel Form at 30 =) thats mainly why I like Shamans, other wise I would stick with my Druid more with his Travel Form. And at high end content Druids and Shamans are both useful except Shamans have totems while Druids provide buffs via casting individually =)

I was a level 60 warlock on Eredar, but I don't play anymore.
At higher levels it gets really boring because you just repeat the same 3 instances over and over again for drops... And also because there are some really selfish and ignorant people on my server, although I guess that's expected in a MMORPG.

Travel form is instant cast. GWF is 3 sec cast, with talent = 1 sec cast :P
Totems are a pain to put down every fight. Druids can get their Mark of the Wild thingy that give everyone in his group the buff. Plus, totems give aggro (one frustrating thing aobut totems)

been playing since xmas and have slowed down a bit since then but have a 56 Night Elf hunter as my main and have been running around lately as a NE druid and human warlock. i should probably get my hunter to 60 but i just feel so laaaazy. n.n; thankfully, i like having the luxury of feeling like i can play at my leisure...unlike FFXI where you feel you have to at least login so that you can get a party HOPEFULLY within a 5-8hr span.
sorry if some people out there still like FFXI but i played the game for 63 lvls with a monk main and 35 levels for my thief sub, along with nearly all the miscellanous subjobs (only one's i didn't get were dark knight and paladin). in the end, the end did not justify the means so i had to call it quits. i just can't stand a game where i can solo ANYTHING that would give me a SMIDGEN of xp. most of the things that were 'too easy' for me on that game, could still give me a run for my poor lil' mithra monk tail, which is just kinda...ridiculous. being forced to party is just bull, not to mention the DELEVELING on top of it... ~_~; but i digress...WoW > FFXI in my book.

Never gonna touch it, WoW is the brain child of the devil. No game should ever have you pay to play, even after you bought the stinkin product. This game enslaves people, wastes plenty of time, and rots the mind. Who honestly cares about what level you are.....cetainly not me, maybe you can convince your parents to care. truely WoW is the source of all evil.
Got a 60 Rogue on Stormscale, a 60 Shammie on Frostmourne
and currently working on a Night elf Druid lv40 on Barthilas.
I will probably stop playing WoW when Warhammer online comes out, it looks much better then WoW.

I didn't play WoW (yet?), however I found a link to awesome video based on WoW. It does mock WoW a little bit, however mocks certain concept in the first place, and WoW pretty much shares this concept with my beloved AO ^^; ( that's why it was posted in AO forum^^ )
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1788226734163789045&q=wow%2Bdress
The robes/coats in AO have been criticised forever, yet the devs must love 'em because they just add new ones with similar design/shape and superior attributes (better than any other gear that can be used in the same slot for the most professions).
So please don't get mad at me, I'm posting it not to mock WoW but just because I found this video so good! ( Watched it few times and it still makes me smile ^_^ )
P.S.
In fact I mostly play fem. chars nowdays and would prefer a loli yuri themed sci-fi & fantasy game if I had a choice. But I remember that these "dresses" bugged me quite a bit not too long time ago ^_-

Guild is important for WoW, without it u can't get upper item and without item u can't pk. I currently hunt for tier 3 set.
