Does anyone here play FFXI? If so, what level are you and what server?


I'm Akisu, a 57 thf on Fairy Server. Might change over to ninja though, which is currently lvl 42.

I should level more than I do. I've had it since November '03, but I like to take breaks every so often and sometimes wait for people to catch up.
I also like crafting, currently I'm level 59 in woodworking and planning on taking it past 60.

Today I tried to get my AF body piece from the wonderful and pleasant Castle Zvahl. After looking for the coffer for sometime, I found it. I use a living key and what do I get? A mimic... Of course it had to be the coffer that took me the longest to find... *sigh* Luckly I didn't die, but they do some really nasty attacks. First off they stun you and poison you. Barely got Perfect Dodge off in time. (btw, in the picture I'm wearing mostly mp up equips, not my usual stuff.)

You know what I was shocked when they ask me opo or opi, that's why there's a pause for a while. Come to think of it, I think no matter what i get i will still get the crown lol. That music? Just happens to be my mp3 playing in the back ground lol. I never bother to play ff11 with their in game sound and SE. It's all my mp3 that i'm listening to.

Tried to get my teleport vahzl scroll today, but that didn't work out too well. I ended up buying thief's tools because someone was being greedy with the only set of living keys up for sale. Will never buy thief's tools again...
Found one chest in Fei'yin after about 30mins or so of looking. Failed, then got weakened. 30mins of weakness... it sucked!
Walk in after that 30mins, find the chest right away. Failed, failed, got weakened AGAIN. -__-
So my monk friend joins me after the second weakness wears off and we get a key after a bit. Then I can't find a damn chest. @_@
Ended up logging out there and will look again later. :/ I'll probably get the scroll and just give up and buy a life belt... I hate looking for treasure chests. Not to mention my luck has been horid lately. :/

Since you're a war, do not have gimped EQ and when you get your sub-job quest done, go lvl mnk as your sub-job. Never have a underlvled subjob i.e 18war/2mnk -_-

Yeah, Warriors do not want gimped gear, since you will probably be the tank most of the time (Unless you have a paladin or nin in the group, though ninja at that level won't be tanking all that much, so you will probably be back up tank.)

Monk is a good sub, especially at lower levels. Once you get higher with warrior and know more about the game, you'll want to level more subjobs, since warrior is versitile. Also leveling up more than one weapon is good. Great axe and axe are probably the best two to get up, imo.

Breaks are good. Better to do that than get burned out on the game. I take one to two week breaks every so often. Another of the reasons why I'm not 75...

Anywho, got Warrior to 25 today. I then tried subbing it to thief. It's a lot of fun triple attacking and double attacking. :D

I stopped warrior at 26 a few days ago. Got an ice ore, sold it, spent nearly all of that money on ninja tools for ninja. Got it from 42-46 in two days. Today being 43-46, which is the best exp run I've had in ages... if not ever. ^^; Now I need to farm a little agian and I'll be back to ninja. Trying to get it to 50 by this weekend.

Meh, my Content IDs are cancelled at the end of this month...but I had 3 characters on Diabolos and one on Fairy.

I was Rensu (54 sam/war Elvaan), Amai (30 blm/rdm Taru) and Kishia (7 blm Mithra) on Diabolos, and Koihana (13 mnk Mithra) on Fairy.

I also really stopped playing because it just got too boring, and Samurai...doesn't get invites for crap after around level 40. I just got frustrated with it really, and also college started back up. I might go back to it someday though, though I think I would play only my Taru if I did that...I like her, lol

Tell me about it...I got quite burned out over the summer trying to get invites for Samurai...

Because of my lack of invites over the summer, I took rdm to 44 and whm to 42, rng to 33, drg to 26, nin to 18...and my war was 34 so I could have taken sam to 70 before being forced to level war again. So I've played the mage side and the melee side...the game can get to be waaay too time consuming and long though, which is why I'm taking a break until January :)

Below is a guide on how to get all items:

I find it easier if you go in this direction 1, 12, 11, 10, 9, 2, 7, 8, 5, 6, 3, 4

Should have found out this guide earlier ^^; I was like just spaming one npc only with tons of orange.


First off, go to Windurst. This is absolutely necessary. Second, have at least 12 spaces free of inventory space. Now have 25k gil ready and lots of time and you're set to start. First of all, go to Windurst Woods. Normally someone'd tell you to look for every NPC in disguise, but I'm so cool I know them by heart, so I'll list them in order you need to visit them:
1.- At the Chocobo stable.
2.- At the Map/Gustaberg shop in the plaza.
3.- At the bonecrafting guild.
4.- At the bonecrafting guild.
5.- At the supply store next to the bonecrafting guild.
6.- At the supply store next to the bonecrafting guild.
7.- At the weaver's guild.
8.- At the weaver's guild.
9.- In front of the Residential Area.
10.- In front of the Dhalmel stable, close to the Residential Area.
11.- In the southernmost Mithra slum, in a shop stand thing.
12.- By the gate to East Sarutabaruta.

Now go to the gate to West Sarutabaruta in Windurst Waters. In front of it is the Sarutabaruta shop NPC (if Windurst doesn't have that shop in your server, you need to switch servers like, NOW). Buy off 10 stacks of Saruta Oranges from him (the standard price is 32, but it may go down depending on your fame). Now go to the Warp Taru that's next to the... librarystery thing. He'll warp you in front of Windurst Wood's Chocobo Stable. Now give one orange to each NPC in the order listed. When you get to number 12, start over from number 1, who'll be close since you're going in a circle. When you clear your 10 stacks, use the Warp Taru, get 10 more and keep going. Eventually, you shall get all 8 items, plus a thousand Jack-o'-Lanterns. How to make a quick buck from this event: Since the prices of the Jack-o'-Lanterns went down to 10 gil in Windurst in my server, I started throwing them away. However, someone had informed me that they were going at 2,500 gil in Jeuno. If this is the case in your server, then you can make a lot of cash exporting them lanterns from Windurst. However, when I had finished this, every single city had the Jack-o'-Lanterns going for, at the very most, 100 gil. Lucky enough for me, the NPCs buy them at 200 gil. So just get all them Lanterns from the AH (there were 116 in Jeuno!!) and sell them to the NPCs. There are better ways to make money of course, but if you just want a fast way to make enough money to get Oranges for this event, this is for you.

I finally got Thief to 58 today. Yay, I look like a thief now (Rogue's Vest)! :D Though at the moment, my friend is letting me borrow her Scorpion Harness, so I look like a Christmas ornament. ^^;
Got Ninja to 51 since the last time I posted as well. Need to try out those Jack-o'-lanterns for food. >.>

I've managed to get a Trick Staff, a Treat Staff, and a Pumpkin head. I wanted the one with +1 enmity more, and the warp enchantments. Aw well, I don't feel like spending anymore money on that >_>

Level 58 gets pretty good exp off of the Gobs and Crabs there. I went there again tonight and we did pretty well, half way to 59 now. Had a decent bard this time. (yay!)

Yeah, I don't do well on bones, that's why I've been trying to get my hand-to-hand skill up. It's only at 102.... /cry. For mission 5-1 I tried dagger, then switched to h2h (which the skill was only about 82 at the time) and I still did more damage with h2h.... which is sad. ^^;

Haven't done much in CoP yet. Still trying to hit 60 with thief. Which I'm getting close to now. Got about 14k exp tonight and am now, roughly about 17k from level 60. (which will probably become higher since I'm going to attempt genkai 3 before our static gets together again. More than likely I will die some horrible painful death...) :D

Fought the Shadow Lord yesterday. It was a lot of fun. Good cut sceens, too. (along with the ones in Norg afterwards).
Part of the first form I ended up tanking, close to half of it. I'm a level 60 thief and we had a 70 paladin. The ranger and I skillchained. Slug shot -> sneak attack/dancing edge. I did enough damage with that plus critical hitting like crazy that I got hate for a good amount of time. o__O I love Utsusemi. >_>
Second form one of our whms ran out of mp pretty early, but the other whm was a taru and still had mp. At the very end the elvaan whm used benediction, but SL died right after that.

Manage to solo all the way till 5-1. (Dammn SE for making it lvl50 cap) Fighting the dragon alone was definitely interesting imo. Rdm/nin for the win lol

Well, I didn't see the post until now so here I am. My name is Minoru and Im on the Siren server. I don't like most of the jobs in the game so I stick with my main 2 and that is Paladin/Warrior. Im PLD50/WAR25 (30 max as of now). I believe Paladin gets more fun to play after you go thru the trails and such at lvl 1-40 and when you get to that point, everything gets more fun and easy, to me anyway.

Watching that flash video makes me want to stay playing FFXI even more for some reason and it makes me sad that most of the people in my LS are gone due to World of Warcraft, moving to other servers, or just dumping the LS. Boy I miss the days when I first started and lots of people were in my Linkshell. Oh well, I'll rebuild it someday....I hope.

Anyway, if anyone is on Siren, say hello or something. Don't be a stranger!!

Well I cant deny that there were times (numerous times) when I felt like quitting ffxi. The time consumption and the feeling of being in a rut did not make me a happy camper (not meaning Nm camper ^^ )

Usually when I get to a new area to level that I have never been before my spirits gets renewed. I finally reachied Eastern Altepa Desert today for the first time with my 32 Sam/War.

But like the other people said, there are times where this game gets repetitive, time consuming, and frustrating with gil issues. But all in all it has been enjoyable.

Other than that, it's a very fun game, although things can get very repetitive and tedious. Could use a little tweaking in the graphics department too and it'd be nice if SE took a little more initiative to fix Gil Seller problems. Its really irritating when people just pay for equipment or gil with real money.

I've been playing for a while, since the NA beta.
Stopped playing recently, my level aren't high enough to do HNMing but my LS does it part-time. I only got the game to play with my friends, it was really fun when we were all together, unfortunately I lost motivation, after heavily farming and questing when I was bored, I got sick of it lol.
It's a very time consuming game, so I stopped playing for a bit, and it felt like I've spent way too much time on it.

The LS I was in has totally no dramas at all, we usually invite friends so we can chat on the shell that's all, main purpose wasn't hnm or anything, but they does it part time, they said we're the poorest LS lol. :D

Anyway my jobs weren't too high when I quit, lvl60 pld, lvl52 drk, lvl40 war, that's pretty much it, I was usually in static unless I have to catch up in level.

I'm Shivan here. 34 BLM (can't get a PT for 2 weeks already) 23 WHM and 13 BRD.
Hate it when i have to play JP prime times and I have an English client. They don't care about romanji. And once I get enough space to install the JP client, my JP ain't very strong either .... :(

Speaking of which? Anyone needs the JP client? I can try to get it off a friend and torrent it if required.

JP doesn't like romanji for various reasons:

-Too hard to read, there are too many variation in romanji, and not every jp is familiar with them to begin with... for example, Konoka in Negima(Manga) is also Conoka...
-A lot of idiots pretend they can speak/read japanese with the gamefaqs' romanji guide, and "lied" to the Japanese players(Note: not doubting your japanese skill)

I don't play with JP much anymore, I am not a bad player, and my JP isn't weak, the problem is, if they don't like romanji, I will avoid talking in romanji, if I party with them, I would just use translator or simple english. Playing in JP prime time IS a problem though, I don't know, my brother still play in JP prime time, and in JP parties, and he could read/speak none japanese lol

I play with the JP client now and then and I haven't really noticed an increase in PTs or anything.
My friend can still wait for hours on his drg and not get a pt.
Only plus side is i can practice writing and communicate a little easier with the players.

Funny thing is, back when I was on English client...nearly 70% of the JP i pt'd with go "Cool! you speak japanese!" or they just say the basic "okaeri" "otsukaresama" "arigatou" etc. some still talk to me normally, and i just reply in romanji..but there was only one time where the whole JP pt was like "join in our conversation!!!" because i was quiet all night til i had to ask something in romanji which i couldn't auto translate.

soo..jp client or not..it may or may not help. just do your best and hope you've got nice JP players that don't poke fun of you

tip1 : get a good LS. they usually help you alot
tip2 : pick up a craft when you can, it's a good way to get money
tip3 : JA/NA parties..whatever..it's all the same. Some are good, some are bad. As long as you get exp, be happy or leave and get a new pt which will give you exp

go get ffxi, wow is some ..., ffxi is the better mmorpg been playin close to 2 and a half years now (beta tester). If you want to come to a decent server email me I will get you a world pass to phoenix. ffxiplayers.com has a good gallery of some of the players good and bad. If you do come to ffxi take your time getting an LS or Linkshell. Lately on my other server bahamut newer players shout for pling or power leveling all the way up to 50 >.< but when you come have fun and prepare to play a super addictive game

Since there is a thread about FFXI, I am wondering the rules into the game.
First of all I want to join a server by randomly picking the right server so I could play with my friends. In order to do that I have to delete and create again. Just wondering if I will be banned if I abuse my way to get into the right server without a world pass.

I was a lv60RDM on Alexander. I sold all my stuff for 1000gil (that included a Scorpion Harness =x) and dropped ALL my Ex/Rare stuff AND gave a few mill to my friend to ensure me not to return... I wished I didn't do that =x (Reason was due to INSANE inflation after Christmas, which made 1 million gil = nothing if everything was sell for 20-30mill..) :cry:

If you already haven't, I strongly advice you to level your subjob.^^ It will make your partysearching alot easier. It also won't give you a bad reputation jobwise, in most cases.^^

i run endgame LS now Eurostar, but thing is, game is getting so repetitive now, same thing every week is bleh lol, only reason i havent quit is because the LS ive worked so hard to make will break apart without me to lead them :(
