Gurumin Help !

If not mistaken ,the skeleton is asking for you to change dress .Well,you might not know what's happening .And I supposed you don't have any dress to change now at all ^^.Now follow the instructions :
1.)Quit the game.
2)change your window time to 1st of january .and maybe the regional time to japan if necessary
3)open the game back.
4)Go back to your room in the town .
5)Check your cupboard .You'll have one clothing to change .It is a kimono .Change it.
6)Go back to the place again and you're done .

*small notice to you :there'll be another machine seller in this stage .You can buy another cloth for 99999 ! Well,supposed you don't have the money ,then good luck to earn that amount (I earned it and buy that cloth.I never regret it).

Hi,

I'm also stuck at one of the skeletons in Gurumin. Specifically, the skeleton in the mountain, the one right after the fish boss (and after the haunted house). I'm not sure what to do.

Also, is there a mask I could get to protect myself from the icy water and lava pits?

is it the one that drops a ball or the one that drops a box?

is it is the one that drops a box, move it next to the skeleton and jump on top of the skeleton.

regarding the dress that costs 99.999k, i had it, but then after trying to cheat it, somehow i couldnt get it from the machine anymore. >_<

It drops nothing. It's an empty room save for four torches but I already tried putting the torches out.

Actually, when I say mountain, I meant the caves/inside mountain on the east side. But I might as well ask, what do you do with the one that drops the ball?

i uninstalled the game before i got to finish...it was really annoying because i couldnt finish a castle dungeon (the one with a skeleton and two squares on the floor) and the stage that dropped a ball...and a few more. >_>

when you mean mountains you mean the one that was originally blocked by a big blue stone...the cave in the middle of the whole map?

I didn't get to the one with two squares on the floor yet but I got to the ball one and figured it out. You're suppose shoot the ball into the goal (door). Hitting it with your drill didn't work so I just jumped on it and got it in.

And when I mean mountains, I mean, on the far east where the haunted house is. Wait, cave would be a better word I guess. Yeah, where the moles had to break the a big rock blocking the entrance. I'm stuck on the first skeleton there.

um...give a screenie. i think i know it. from memory you can try this - "put on a set (goggles and red dress)" im pretty sure i finished the whole cave dungeon already, so i think that skeleton asked you to do that. >_<

and how do you jump on the ball? -.- it doesnt move when you jump on top of it.

edit: ok nvm...somehow i used ice ability on it and it worked. o_O?

now im at the center of egg plant cave? the one with puku in it and the big crystal in the center? you know how to pass it?

and how many hp you got? D: i only have 90 and it's not enough to beat the black bean... =/

Tried using the googles but doesn't seem to do the trick. Though, I'm not sure if I'm wearing the correct dress... I don't seem to have any other dress available to purchase.

To get past the area with the large crystal in the middle, just drill the four pillars along edge of the cricle. Just to let you know, you're pretty close to finishing the game. I have 100HP but I'm also using a level 4 vampire hat so it helps a fair bit.

thanks man! i was stuck there for what seemed like 2 hours! i tried getting master rank on all minigames and talking to every npc but nothing happened. i thought that you even had to beat the black bean before dragon. >_<

(black bean is obviously harder than dragon...though i havent tried the dragon yet)

get poko in a jar then place it in front of the skeleton and it'll work...

i believe the next stage for that dungeon you'll need to use the set (red coat and goggles, maid hat and maid dress and etc)

vamp hat is ok, i mean it helped me on the fight with puku or that evil guy in eggplant cave because magic wont work on him. but against the black bean healing by 1 HP per hit isnt really that helpful, unless you have the lvl5 of the hat. otherwise use magic hood, i have it at lvl4 but still cant beat it. >_>

edit: man...i just beat the game. the ending was mad nice and a bit sad, but i wont spoil.

all i gotta say is you dont have to beat the black bean on the top of the volcano (map at the very top...i mean even above eggplant cave). black bean does ~70 dmg last time i tried and i only got him down to 40% health.

one of the greatest games made by falcom. now i've played ys6, ed6, and gurumin. all great games. :D

the big cat will ask you to play soccer with him.

it's another minigame...totally optional, unless you want a golden coin, which doesnt seem to be helpful at all at this point of the game unless you have not gotten monkey hat, head dress or the 19 gold coin hat...to me, i dont even use these. but the 19 gold coin hat sucks so it's a rip.

it will take you a few tries, but you will get the gold coin the first time you beat em.

hats-> ranked in usefulness

1) magic hood
2) yellow hard hat
3) maid hat (level 4 and up...used outside battles or when not within reach of enemies)
4) head dress
5) vampire hat (only if it is level 5)

Hmm, maybe I should invest in the magic hood then. BTW, I don't suppose you know how to get the pharoah hat off the Iwato rock guy in the monster city once you've given it to him do you?

Have you acheived S or better on all the levels? There's a few I can't get S because I can't jump high enough to reach a certain spot. Is there a way to jump higher than normal?

to get the pharoah hat of iwao, you gotta use fire attribute and just do a regular aerial swing at him.

i havent got s on many levels except minigames, boss and 1st level of potato ruins, 1st level of spina cave, 1st level of forest of radis and first and second level of pimento mountain.

i dont believe there is any method of jumping higher than usual than to do the consecutive aerial attack...if you mean the level in eggplant cave where there were 2 chests on a column, then i didnt get those 2 chest (which coulda been the yellow hard hat D: ).

edit: also, if you havent noticed already, special items attained on a few dungeons will be equiped to some ghosts in obake town when you talk to the respective npcs. after then you will get a new wallpaper which will be in your save data folder as well as the table in your room.

Yeah, I knew about the wallpaper thing. There's six wallpapers in total I believe, one of which can only be 'obtained' on the first of Janurary. For Iwao, turns out I just had to drill him. Fire didn't work on him at all.

And yes, I'm specifically talking about the two chests. But also in the 'normal' version of that level in the same area, there's a ledge I can't get to. It's the ledge you warp to in the reverse of the level (and you end up pushing a stack of crates down).

Also, on one of the cave levels, I found a place where it said '990' backwards on a wall. Know what's up with that?

i need to go check that dungeon again, it was a bit confusing especially the part with about 15 wierd controls.

Do you remember what the requirements are for the mini-games to get master level? I can't seem to get any of those...

Okay I give up trying to get S or better on everything. Maybe if I keep playing the mini-games more, I'll master those but there are some levels where it's just too damn hard to get everything.

The too-high-to-reach chests in three of the four levels inside the volcano for example. Then there's the cart ride in the mountain where you have to jump and destory the floating mines as you rollar coaster along.

Besides getting S on everything, getting the maid outfit and beating the black bean character, is there anything left in the game? I think I have all the wallpapers already.

umm...the black bean is totally optional as i have aforementioned. the guy just isnt worth wasting 3 hours attempting to beat...

seriously it gets mad stronger each time you hit him. i mean if you had a constant full drill gauge the guy would fall faster but he hits you way too much time for you to gain it back.

the maid outfit just makes you look cool...or not...but i just got it to get 2 sets. XP

so you beat the game (as in beating dragon) right?

I actually beat the game without knowing it a while back before I got the skeleton levels of the cave area. It was a lot easier than expected, compared to say, the black bean. Actually, I had a harder time in the lava pit area of one of the mountain levels than the boss fights.

Pretty enjoyable game actually. I liked it more than Y's 6.

gurumin was much harder in terms of understanding the game play...Ys had much less "puzzles" and "quizzes". for instance, the skeleton that asks you for the location of the false gatekeeper. you had to type something in hiragana. that was easy, but i had to get my comp to write hiragana on the game. >_>

Ys, well it was pretty straightforward...kill bosses, get the 3 swords, power them up, get to level 50+ beat ernst and napishtim

but you can say that the black bean in gurumin was LIKE madjunan in Ys6. unbeatable nearly...or actually madjunan is much harder than black bean...even at lvl 60, you might have to use up all your tool items. =/

lastly, Ys6 took me about 8 hours to beat. gurumin took me 20 hours...like the dungeons made me frustrated because i didnt understand their clues...

edit: nevermind, i finally beat the black bean. w00tex. too bad the only thing i get is a gold coin. >_> oh yeah you mind showing me your best equipment? :D

I was just wondering, once you've completed Gurumin the first time, what extras are unlocked on the second game when you get to play with the harder difficulty?

I know there's an extra NPC in the town the second time, but because I can't really read Japanese, I don't know what she's saying...

Oh, the black bean guy is a lot easier to beat when you have the LV5 Vampire hat... but it still takes around 20-30 minutes to do him in.

And here's a great Japanese site on Gurumin (WARNING: contains some spoilers, tips and secrets)... it also have a brief explanation on how he got the 2 chests on the pillars in the Eggplant level. I used Bablefish to translate it since I can't read Japanese...

ooh nice, black bean took me 8 min and 11 seconds to beat with level 5 magic hood. XP but then i again i used the level 5 yellow hard hat to defend me when he attacked. :O

i dont think there are anything else unlocked besides the new npc and the new clothes you acquire...but that really doesnt matter.

My 'best' equipment is just a level 5 hood and the maid's dress I guess. I liked the kimono + vampire hat setup a lot more though. I looked at the link cocefi posted and will definitely try to get the two chests like it suggests.

Have you tried getting to the two chests as per the instructions in that guy's Gurumin diary?

"To rise to the place of the treasure box which 2 has lined up into the high place, just a little secret needs. Just jumping from the position where it is far a little, before the landing while jumping once more, in order to jump at the wall, when it appears in before, somehow it is caught."

Okay so I take you have to position yourself in a certain spot, jump towards a wall and then just before you land, jump once more. Now the question is, where do I initiate the jumping sequence and towards which wall? I tried a lot of different positions but none seemed to work.

The red weapon seems to be a LVL4 drill as it has an extra bar on the top. No idea how he got that though...

I got the 2 chest by somewhat randomly jumping towards the right pillar. When I climbed up the place, I killed off the 2 monsters and repeatedly jump towards the chest pillar on the right (when facing the exit) from the side where I climbed up from. After a few tries, she hung on to the pillar and pulled herself up. Then I jump to the next chest while on top. I don't remember doing a double jump to get up there though. I only got up there once and never tried a second time... hmm maybe I should go try it again...

Yup, just tried it again. Just press the jump key repeatedly towards the right pillar and use the arrow keys to control the character so it always faces the pillar. Keep doing that (even if you're going around the pillar) and after a short while, she'll somehow hang on to it. Managed to get up there about five times before I quit.

well after getting lvl5 magic hood and lvl5 yellow hat, i just got annoyed and started playing with some values and got all the items at level 5...but they dont help you against the black bean...trust me. XP

the pillars have 1 mystery bad and a chocolate or both have mystery bags?

Only one mystery bag on the left pillar... there's another chest after this part which is also on top of a platform/pillar thing... that one holds another mystery bag if I remember correctly.

Not sure if I got all the available hats though as there were some ??? in the item list that was available once you've won the game... but yeah, all my others hats are at lvl 2 and 3.

The character seems to make a different sound when you attack if you're wearing a matching hat and dress (like the maid set)... which is pretty cool. :)

I like games which have all these little secrets and stuff... do you know any other games that are similar to Gurumin (for the PC or PS2)?

um...secrets...not sure...havent played many games with wierd sidequests to earn different items before...

in any case, i believe these are the hats i have:
1) goggles
2) gas mask
3) cat ears
4) vampire hat
5) head dress (maid hat)
6) night cap
7) monkey hat
8) wierd shogun type of hat (forgot name)
9) champions mask
10) head band
11) magic hood
12) hard hat
13) crown
14) 2 red round things (forgot name also, the hat for the china dress)
15) ribbon

yep, that should be all of the hats...not all of them are that useful...so it's good thing you never wasted money on things like the crown...psh... -.-

well i now know how to get some other dresses and hats...and maybe get to use popon and the level 4 drill and sword...gotta try it out. XP

Ah, I got all the hats except for the "wierd shogun type of hat" you mentioned. Do you remember where you got that from?

I had my crown at level 2 to take advantage of the item discount... haha... they get rather pricy later on in the game.

Atfer getting to those two chests, I was rather pleased with myself. Then I go to the next part of the map and swore. How the **** do you get a flying enemy to aerial attack yourself onto that ledge with the crate? The two blue guys suspended in the electric fence don't even jump, they just roll around.

I can't believe you guys are trying so hard to get all the hats though... getting the crown was kind of fun though.

I tried comparing saves to figure out where the money and junk metal values are store but the save file is a mess.

Ah, on the next part of the map, kill off all those small enemies, run to the end and break the wall (if I remember correctly)... you should see a bigger enemy there (the one with arms and holding a sword or axe). Don't kill that guy!

Instead, you slowly lure him to the platform with the crate on top. Just move a bit, and let it hit you, move, repeat... sometimes it'll do a back jump if you're too far away, so make sure you stay close to it and have some food ready when HP is low. When you've reached the crate platform, try some jump attack on him, and hopefully, you'll be able to get hold of the platform and pull yourself up. Push the crate down and then kill the guy off. I guess you know what to do next with the crate. :)

oh my bad...i gotta check it again...ill post a screenie of it, so you know what im talking about. ok...maybe i couldnt describe it..it's the wierd samurai/japanese warrior hat...you should have it if you have most of the hats.

edit: i posted the screenie with all my hats intentionally...anyway, im pretty sure im missing like 1 or 2 now...but not quite sure...if you guys have one that i dont have tell me. XP

I wonder if you guys could help me. When I try to install the game, right after selecting the folder path (which I believe would be the beginning of the physical installation) I get the error:

不明なエラーが発生しました (An unknown error has occured)

Anyone know what could be causing this? :(

Edit: Now I feel stupid. It was on their support site. Apparently you have to set your timezone to GMT+09:00 for some reason. :confused:

would be the save data folder i believe

god: in order to play gurumin, you always have to set your timezone to tokyo/osaka...wierd thing...even if you have installed the game

The original Gurumin torrent thread had some pointers for this but looks like that thread got deleted so I hope someone can help me here. I'm replaying the game in hard more now and got to my second skeleton level, the one with the word game. I don't suppose anyone can help me solve this? I've included screenshots of the hints.

I just solved this problem myself, updating the game to the latest version seemed to fix it.
