I pre ordered Guild Wars yesterday and got the cd and stuff, and I cant wait to play the Beta events. I'm going to try and level up as much as I can before the actual game comes out. So who else will be playing this game?

I've been playing GW since the E3 WPE event little under a year ago, and it's a drastically improved game since then. It still lacks a few features that are needed before an actual release, such as an auction channel or house, but the game itself is a blast to play.
Judging from your comment though, I'm not sure if you've read up on how Guild Wars itself works. Leveling up in GW is not that much a focus. In fact, with the level cap being 20, it's not uncommon to see many level-maxed chars running around during the weekend events. The game's two professed foci of playing styles are the PvE storyline missions and the PvP arena and guild battles. In order to keep PvP balanced, it's understandable to have most everyone the same or at least similar level. It's also very different from other traditional MMO's out there in the fact that all zones outside of town are instanced. You form up a party before you head out on a quest or adventure and your party has the zone to themselves.
Recently, ArenaNet has been talking up its much vaunted quest system. With instanced zones, events that transpire for your character have actual consequences in the world. Completing a mission or a quest will affect relevant zones, at least for your character. I haven't yet seen this in action as it was in a very limited implementation during the January Beta Event so I can't comment on it. Apparently, however, a new zone they will be adding to the play area of the February event will allow players to see the already available zone of Ascalon as it was before the Charr invasion. I speculate that the storyline for Guild Wars will begin before the current timeframe the beta events are taking place in and take players through the events that lead up to and after the set of missions that are currently available in the beta events. In this sense, the PvE aspect of Guild Wars is very much like a single player game.
As for the PvP, there are a few options in terms of arenas. Ascalon has the low level arena open to players below level 10, while the Gladiator Arena and the Tomb of Forgotten Kings are usually packed with level 20 characters. Another option for PvP are guild battles; basically the same as arenas except between competing guilds. Currently, all GW has in the way of PvP is team deathmatch, with a few variations such as capture the flag in the Tomb. Though it's currently not completely fleshed out, it's still great fun.
Guild Wars really is a different beast than the vast majority of MMO's out there, and these changes in play style might not appeal to all players. I myself wasn't sure about this game after playing the original E3 world preview. After the first Beta Event, however, I found that GW's style of gameplay really appealed to me, and I'm eagerly awaiting the game's release.

Seems they've finally pinned a release date on the game, April 28th. ArenaNet has put out a press release here (http://guildwars.com/press/pr08-02-14-05.html).

I'm both anticipating and dreading Feb. the 18th. I've got a major midterm on that day, but then i get to come home and have pvp action waiting for me!

Anyone participate in the BWE this past weekend? Well, for anyone who missed it here's a little video someone made of female necro's dancing. The devs were even nice enough to show up with a little surprise. =)
Here's the bittorrent link.

I only got to play on one of the events, for some reason I couldn't get in on the others, but oh well. To be honest, I thought this game was pure fun, because it was so different from other games, and I liked the idea also of being able to solo, I dislike being forced to party go go through some areas, and I had those generic characters I could take. After playing City of Heroes and other MMORPGs, even getting a party doesn't mean that they'll work well together or have an effective build and being the type of player who really only wants to game with his friends, the game just called out to me. I can't wait to see it take off 100%.

I played alpha, but didn't get to get the preorder CD-key until a week ago. It has drastically changed. However, I doubt it's going to be my no.1 game, it's just going to be a game I'll play when I'm bored (alla last resort ;))
The spells are very very interesting. There is a whole lot of variety you can do with your abilities. All I want now is to get to Lion's Arch (stuck at the !@#$ outpost) :P
