cdisplay is very simple and easy to use
and ACDSee has some very weird file sorting system to help you out with your images. i use both at school.

what do u mean??
btw, i use ACDSee... it has a black background to provide a better contrast(well i think so) ... that is if u load the image in fullscreen... it is also quite easy to use... :)

I like acdsee because using the scroll button to browse is really useful but it's pretty bad at zooming unfortunatly :(

wow thanx guys, ill try these outs
I can only recommend CDisplay or ComicsViewer from personal experience. ACDSee is good, but get earlier versions because the newer versions take up more memory to run.

i could throw in 10 more image browsers, but those that i posted first will do.
ACDSee was fun until it got uber-friendly, that you get very little control on what happens on the program.
CDisplay is one of the best. The ability to read zip/rar files is a big help.
ComicsViewer is also very good. I've tried it before and was satisfied with it.
Toriyama's Manga Viewer is a surprise from the list. This was the first program i've used before ACDSee got popular.
PicWalker is also a good program but has troubles reading some of the rar files.
What i'm using right now is PicWalker, since it is the only program that i haven't managed to uninstall yet. ~

I vote for CDisplay. It has all features I need for reading manga (well, the bookmark function could be better, but at least there is one), plus it's small and fast.
I hate the current ACDSee (cumbersome and buggy).

ACDSee 7.0 works fine for me as soon as I went and messed with the preferences a bit (and rearranged everything). I was using 4.0 until I decided that I wanted unbroken rar support.
I use ACDSee 4.0..and its works just fine

ACDSee 7.0 has everyting to me. Although previous versions are Ok too. It's probably the best one & my favourite :)

i use ACDsee classic 2.43 it's small doesn't seem to use much memory and it's really really easy to use and i have had it FOREVER
CDisplay is cool pretty easy to use i just don't like the way it seems to require fullscreen as i am often switching between manga and other things on the net

Any other linux manga readers?
I'm looking for a linux image viewer that can view zipped or rar'd mangas? I realize that not many out there use linux but I won't go back to windows....ever.

I use CDisplay. It is easy to use and can show you the files from within a .rar or .zip. It also resizes things very nicely.

To view zipped rarred manga, use 'fileroller'. Then without extracting, select all pictures in the file then 'open/view file(s)' then choose/add gqview as your viewer. Quite tedious steps.

ComicViewer is updated recently, and I'm using it for most manga
Some minor functions are added (actually a lot of minor changes)
The main defect is that it does not have cache,
loading big picture like 400k would take a long time.

Does anyone know how to view pictures at 100% in ACDSee and have the slide show move around the picture if it can't fit the whole screen like in CDisplay?

right click, choose View> fit image (shrink the image to full screen size)
but i usually use fit width
